Draft of 7/17/2008 – subject to change and confirmation

Book2Buk -

Talking about PNG books

11th – 12 th August, UPNG Waigani Campus

Theme – “Books : Sources of information, inspiration and education"

Goal – To celebrate and advance the role of books in preserving the heritage of Papua New Guinea

This meeting is being run in association with the 2008 Waigani Seminar by UPNG Press and Bookshop. It will be an unabashed reflection of the book culture and a chance to meet those who have made significant contributions to PNG and Pacific books. It will also draw attention to the improved facility at UPNG Bookshop. This now has a stock of 50000 items and turnover is growing rapidly. Its PNG area is probably the best shop collection of for sale items about the country anywhere in the world. As it will be a week after the customary National Book Week it will provide a welcome piece of continuity.
