Longcoy School Vision Statement

"All Longcoy students will learn…whatever it takes."

Dear Longcoy Families,

Greetings and Happy Fall! I hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather we have been having so far. The leaves are beginning to morph and change colors and it makes me think of the changes I’m beginning to see in our students here at Longcoy. They have learned the academic and behavioral routines/procedures and the Longcoy expectations. Now our students are changing into more mature students for the new grade they’re in for the 2015-2016 school year! Also, we are approaching the end of the first grading period and reports will be sent home on Friday, October 23. PLEASE be sure to review your child’s report card with them and then contact their teacher with any comments, questions, or concerns. Last, I hope all Longcoy families are spending time reading each night!!! Students who read nightly or are read to nightly have larger vocabularies, usually read beyond grade level, are more fluent readers, and have a broader understanding of the world around them! So . . . Read! Read! Read!

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. You can reach me at the school office or you can email me at

And Remember: Students + Parents + Teachers = SUCCESS!!

Charge policy for Kent City School Students Grades KG-8th

We realize that there may be a time where your student needs a meal at school, they did not bring in money that day, and there may not be any funds on their account.

`

We are allowing students from Kindergarten through 8th grade to charge some meals, to allow for that oversight. (A la carte items for sale cannot be charged.)

This is what will happen if your student charges a breakfast or a lunch at school:

 You will receive a voice and email broadcast explaining that your student charged a meal that day. Please send in money or put funds on your student’s account to fix the negative balance.

 At $20, your student will be given a vegetable and a sandwich. You will receive a call to discuss the situation.

All meal charges are expected to be paid in full prior to Winter Break and the last week of school for the current school year.

To avoid exceeding charge limits, please take advantage of the free, online MyPaymentsPlus system. You can have the system email you when the funds in your student’s account goes below a dollar amount that YOU set. You can see what your student is eating each day. Also, you can also put funds on your student’s account instead of sending in a check or cash to school with your student.

The website is: https://www.mypaymentsplus.com/

You will need your student’s ID number. If you don’t have it, you can contact the school office.

If you think that you may qualify for free or reduced meals, please fill out an application, and submit it to your school office. The information that you provide is confidential. You can get an application from the school office, or download it here: www.kentschools.net/food-services

If you have any questions about your student’s meal account balance, please call the Food Service office at 330-676-8644.
