Essential items to bring: SOSC NAME BADGE – in the interest of eco-friendliness no paper badges will be provided. Consider bringing a Hawaiian shirt to wear on Saturday in honor of Jan Melnyk and our Hawaiian themed lunch.
Dress Code: Please be advised there are no exceptions to this dress code. Braemar is a country club and we have agreed our attendees will respect their dress code which is:
- Business casual/Country Club Attire
- Men must wear collared shirts, slacks or appropriate length shorts (think khaki) or sneakers, no sandals.
- Women may wear sandals and are not required to wear a collared shirt in the clubhouse. They may wear open collared shirts, skirts, appropriate length shorts or pants (also think khaki).
- No one is allowed to wear flip flops, jeans, clothes with tears, athletic/exercise wear, tank tops of t-shirts.
- Everyone should considerlayeringif you are sensitive to air conditioning inside. It will be hot outside for the Unified Sports Event (USE). Locker rooms will be available if you want to change clothing before the USE event.
Hotel Information
- Confirmationswill be sent via email by COB onMonday, July 11, by Kimberly. If you reserved a room and don’t receive confirmation information by the end of the dayon Monday, please send an email .
- Check-in and breakfast: Check-in time isafter 4:00PM (on either Thursday or Friday). We have arranged for late check-in for both nights. Please use your personal credit card at check-in for any personal incidental charges. The room charges will be on the SOSC master bill, but if you wish to purchase anything else you will need to use your personal credit card(if you do not have a personal credit card please let Kimberly or Laura know so that way other arrangements can be made).Upon arrival you will be given one complimentary breakfast coupon, per occupant, per night. If you reserve a room for Thursday night and are a no-show, please be advised you are at risk of cancellation of your entire reservation unless you notify Kimberly McNeal before 6pm on Thursday.
- Wi-Fi and Personal Electronic DeviceAccess: The hotel is wired for complimentary Wi-Fi.
- Parking: Parking in the visitor spaces at the hotel will cost $15 per day and arrangements have been made to have parking fees charged to the SOSC Master bill.
- Thursday night dinner: If you are staying at the hotel on Thursday night and stop for dinner along the way, or go to a restaurant near the hotel, you may use your SOSC credit card or complete an expense report for reimbursement, for the cost of a reasonably priced meal. Per SOSC policy, you may not put any alcohol charges on your SOSC credit card or submit any for reimbursement and of course - don’t drink and drive.
- Check-out: You must check-out prior to leaving for Braemar on Saturday morning.
Carpool: Please plan ahead to share the drive and carpool whether you are coming from a regional office or headquarters! It will not only allow you entry into the sometimes faster moving carpool lane, you will have company on your drive, help keep our air cleaner and save SOSC mileage reimbursement expenses. Remember a dollar saved is a dollar we don’t have to raise!
Traffic: We have been tracking average driving time from HQ to Tarzana the last couple of weeks. Based on what we have learned we encourage those driving from Long Beach to plan to leave at 7:00am, certainly no later than 7:30am to be in Tarzana prior to the start of the sessions. We will have sliced fruit, mini burritos and coffee available. Those in other cities need to please plan accordingly to make sure you arrive on time!
Mileage: Mileage to and from the retreat should be charged to the Conference Project Code #120 (less normal commute from home to office).
Parking at Braemar: Parking is complementary. There will be Braemar employees in the parking lot both days to assist you.
Outside Food: We have agreed to Braemar’s requirement that no outside food be brought into the event with one exception. If you have special dietary needs and need, for example, to snack on almonds mid-morning or veggies mid-afternoon you may do so.
Meals:
Lunch on Friday and Saturday and dinner on Friday will be provided at the Braemar Country Club during the retreat. Menus will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
Attendees whose travel time from the Retreat to home on Saturday is in excess of three hours may charge SOSC for dinnerpurchased along the route.
Wi-Fi and Personal Electronic DeviceAccess: Please be advised Braemar has very limited Wi-Fi access. Please plan to turn off all personal electronic devices during the actual meetings.

Route 1 - (7 miles, on Friday plan on heavy traffic. On Saturday this is the best route)
Exit Hilton Woodland Hills onto Canoga Ave. going south (left) - 1.34 miles
Merge onto US – 101 South Ventura Fwy – 3.36 miles
Exit Reseda Blvd
Right onto Reseda Blvd (Reseda Blvd becomes Mecca Ave for half a mile and reverts back to Reseda Blvd) – 1.5 miles
Right into Braemar Country Club
Alternative Route 2 – (6.6 miles, avoids freeway however, numerous stop lights)
Exit Hilton Hotel going north onto Canoga Ave.
Right on Victory Blvd (3.6 miles)
Right onto Reseda Blvd (after 1.4 miles, Reseda Blvd becomes Mecca Ave for half a mile and reverts back to Reseda Blvd (3 miles)
Right into Braemar Country Club – 4001 Reseda Blvd., Tarzana
