TuPac

I have chosen to focus my research on the poet and famous rapper TuPac Shakur. The websites I have found mostly discuss the troubled lie he led and the many accomplishments he managed to achieve prior to his tragic death.

Bobb, Maurice. “Tupac's Legacy Lives... 17 Years Later.” MTV.com. Viacom International Inc. 2013. Web. Sept 19th, 2013.

This article within this website talks about how Tupac’s legacy continues to live on in the lyrics of new artists such as Rhianna and J Cole. It states that September 13th is the anniversary of Tupac’s tragic death when he was just 25 years old.which took place in Las Vegas as he was leaving a Mike Tyson fight. The article quotes various artists who have used Pac’s lyrics in their songs, and some who have enen continues to recreate the “beef” with artist Biggie Smalls more than 15 years after their deaths. It is not the most useful website becasue it doesn’t give a lot of information about his life or achievements, though it does explain how influential he was. I do beleive this is a credible source becasue MTV is a well known company and this was an article written by someone working for them. aS well, one can look uop the lyurics by J Cole and Rhianna to ensure the author was telling the truth.

No Author. “TuPac Shakur Biography.” Biography.com. A+E Television Networks Ltd. 1996-2013.

Web. Sept 19, 2013.

This website is a useful one as it discusses a great deal about Tupac’s life. It gives information about how he was born in New York in 1971, and how he was the sonof Black Panther activists but never knew his father. This site talks about his troubled early childhood and how his mother had been in jail for some of his early life, as well as a substance abuser. Surprsingly, Shakur went to a school for the arts as a child and took both singing and dancing lessons before becoming the famous rapper he was before his death. Shakur began his career with a group called Digital Underground before going solo in 1991. The site explains that he eventually sold 75 million albums worldwide before being murdered in Las Vegas in 1996. I beleive this site to be credible becasue despite the fact there is no author, A+E’s Biography is a qell established TV show and website that has been around for many years and easily recognized by many people as credible.

Turner, Neil. “Remembering Tupac Shakur On 17th Anniversary Of His Death.” Starpulse.com. TMZ. Sept 13, 2013. web. Accessed: Sept 19th, 2013.

This website doesn’t give a lot of new information; it talks about his date of death, the anniversary of that death, and the circumstances surrounding his death. It does however give some anecdotes about the rapper that were not present on other pages, such as that he once dated Jada Pinkett smith and acted in several movies. It is a credible source because it is a news article online, but it really isn’t all that useful.
