BIG DAY FOR ROTARIANS HUGH AND OBIE:District Governor Chuck Davidson will be on hand today to honor two of our members who have hit (and surpassed) the 50-year mark in their Rotary careers. PDG Hugh Heishman (perfect attendance) and Obie Obermayer will make remarks and observations about those years, including a little known story Obie will tell about how Hugh influenced his decision to move here from New Jersey here to Arlington and purchase the local newspaper.
After long and distinguished careers in the automotive and publishing businesses Hugh is still active in his role as a Director of the Burke & Herbert Bank and Obie has just signed a contract with Simon and Shuster to publish his biography of the late Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist (in the bookstores in November).

MISSION IN INDIA: Retired Naval officer Bob Kelly spoke to us last week of the St Joseph's Mission Fund, a small all-volunteer organization that supports an orphanage and a home for the elderly in a village in southern India that was devastated by the 2004 tsunami. The Fund was started 25 years ago by the late Father Joseph Swam, who some have called "the Mother Teresa of the South." The officers and directors of the fund all live in Northern Virginia.
