ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1991 / Degree in Modern Languages and Literatures, English/German, specialisation in Translation at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.1992 / Post-graduation in Translation of the German Language, promoted by the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas in association with the Portuguese Translators Association.
1995 / Translation course at British Council. Preparation for the Chartered Institute of Linguists' Diploma in Translation examination (not taken yet).
Bilingual - Portuguese/German (10 years of education in Germany).

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY:
Decr 1994 to Oct 1995 / Worked at a national Design company, NovoDesign S.A. as assistant to the Board of Directors.
Oct 1995 to Sep 1996 / Worked at Bayer Portugal S.A. as assistant to the Human Resources Director and to the General Manager, having predominantly to translate documents from the German language.
Sep 1996 to Jan 2003 / Worked as a Product Manager for the Disposable Division at Medicinália S.A. in the fields of Anaesthesia, Urology and Surgery. The PM job description also included the training of the sales force (Sales Reps) regarding the products one was responsible for (all the products for Anaesthesia and/or Urology of the following companies: Rüsch AG, Mallinckrodt, DAR, Kendall (belonging to the Tyco Healthcare Group), Romedic, Arrow, Semperit, etc.) plus several presentations at cycle meetings on outstanding issues (competitor products, etc); processing of all product information and clinical sessions with hospital staff on new products.
Since Jan 2003 / Works as a freelance translator. Experience with SDL TRADOS 2007, TAGEDITOR and MULTILIZER. Initiates experience with PASSOLO.
TRANSLATION WORK:
Initiated in 1990 during university course in part-time. Works in full-time since 2003 having translated more than 2 Million words.
