SUPPORT WORKER (HOUSING)

Job Title: Support Worker (Housing)

Reports to: Supported Housing Manager

Place of work: Littlehampton & Bognor Regis (with travelling across Stonepillow projects as required)

1.  Job Purpose:

·  To be a key member of the Supported Housing Team carrying out the day to day Supported Housing management of our properties including: collection of rents, delivery of excluded license agreement support, Health and Safety and maintenance reporting.

·  To establish and provide a Stonepillow support & advisory service to vulnerable and homeless people in Littlehampton

·  The role involves some Hub ‘front line’ cover and some lone working on a 2 week rolling rota – Monday to Friday/Tuesday to Saturday

2. Main Duties & Responsibilities

·  To undertake effective risks and needs assessments

·  To signpost and support homeless people with access to Stonepillow Bognor Hub offering support, showers, clothes and food.

·  To co-ordinate emergency referrals to Stonepillow Hostels and encourage people safely away from rough sleeping.

·  To support clients to access supported accommodation in the Arun District to find private rented accommodation.

·  To signpost clients to any relevant Stonepillow projects & services necessary for their recovery.

·  To sign up clients at our supported properties and issue written and verbal warnings/eviction notices where appropriate

·  To undertake regular keyworking and life skills advice/support to enable Stonepillow clients to sustain their excluded licence agreements.

·  To undertake environmental risk assessments at Stonepillow properties and report immediately any defects/maintenance issues.

·  To administer and develop the provision of the Local Assistance in Littlehampton; efficiently processing applications for furniture, white goods, travel warrants and food bank vouchers.

·  To develop and maintain links with the food bank and local churches in Arun; offering advice and support to vulnerable people - including families with children.

·  To develop and maintain effective working relationships with our joint partners and other relevant agencies over a wide range of issues affecting our clients.

·  To research the needs of homeless people in the Littlehampton area and identify gaps in service provision.

·  To provide Housing Support as and when required.

3. General

• To operate within professional confidentiality boundaries.

• To ensure regular liaison with the supported housing manager and the supported housing team.

• Maintain clear accurate records of support and communication within the service ensuring confidentiality at all times.

• To develop a knowledge of the organisations other services and support.

• Attend monthly team meetings to maintain good communication between all of Stonepillow projects.

• To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and to undertake any duties as required by Stonepillow appropriate to the grade of the post.

7. Confidentiality:

·  This policy covers all Stonepillow employees and volunteers, all of whom will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Anyone working for Stonepillow who breaches the agreement will be liable to disciplinary action under the Organisation’s policy.
