How to make a own Facebook site for Guides and Porterguides of Nepal

More and more People have a Facebook site to communicate with their friends. This is one of the best ways to inform your friends what you are doing and what you like.

Therefore I recommend to all of my nepali friends to start as soon as possible with their own Facebook site. It is free of costs.

How to do it.

Go to www. Facebook.com

It appears the enter page.

On the right side you can SIGN UP. Enter your name, your Emails adresse ect.

Click on “sign up”

You are member J

On top you have a bar with Home , Profile, find friends and account

Messages for every one.

On the page Home you can write in the cell what is on your mind. This text will appear on all the pages of your friends so that you don’t have to send them an extra email. But be careful only to write things all you friends should like to read. Like this you can stay always in their mind. After a few wekks or days the posting will diapear, so don’t add things which should last for lang.

Photos.

Klick left on Photos and upload some pictures from you in profile photos.

Add a new Album for every new trekking tour. People who are interested in your service will be glad to look at them even when you have 5 different albums for Annapurna. If you use pictures from someone else, just credit him (= mention his name as photographer) describe every photo, this will give you a good reputation. Don’t put all the photos you have at hand on the site. Specialy don’t put to many “touristic” photos of yourself, On on 20 pictures is enaought. With touristic pictures I mean a photo where you are just smiling in the front with some mountains as background. Thes a tipical picturers “I have been here” When someone is looking to several albums he will be soon bored. Choose the best personal pictures of yourself and put them in the profile pictures. Pictures with you and a client a good insida an album. It is much better to have 50 very good pictures with comments than 370 uncommentet and not so good pictures. Quality matters not quantity ! Befor you start a new album sort the pictures by trekking days start to upload with the last one. Like this the first day will appear first in your album. Otherwise you can later rearrange them by clicking in photos on edit photos,

When you describe a trek start every picture with Day x. Example for Poonhill trek: day 1 Start a Naya pul. Day 2 ullerie to Gorepani ect..Like this people can follow the trekking itinary.

So that are the basics.

Marketing

Then you should ask your clients if they have a facebooksite and would like to link on your FB page as a friend.

You also can go to my page Nepal friends of Nepal www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=110810205627502 and start on the “page discussions” www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=110810205627502&v=app_2373072738 a new topic describing that your offer services as a guide or Porterguide in Nepal.. Call the topic for example “trekking in Nepal with …… (your name)”. People who are interested can directly follow the link to your own site. See the example of your colleagues so that you get an idea how it should be written. Please start only ONE !!! Topic on the site discussion describing your knowledge and services.

On the page wall you can write day by day for example if you have made new photo album.

But again , don’t put to many threads in a time. Trekking agencies please don’t post topic just saying you have a group an a specific date. It would completey spoil the site. There you also can ad a link directly to the text or album. For this first open your own page or album, copy the internet address URL and paste this address in the text you are writing on the Wall of Nepal Friends of Andrees. Like this people can directly go to the linked text or photo album. Have a look at Prem Rai ‘s facebboksite- I think the structure is excellent and a good example.

I wish you success
