Black History Art Show
All art and social studies students in grades 4-12 are invited to participate in the annual Black History Art Show, which is sponsored, by Eta Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
All works of art will be exhibited February 2-20, at La Galeria de la Mision de Senecu, Located at 8455 Alameda Street El Paso, TX. The exhibition will be open to the public Monday-Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All students will receive a certificate in recognition for their participation. The exhibit will be judged in three categories: Elementary, Junior High (Middle School), and Senior High. First, Second and Third Place Trophies will be awarded in each category. In addition, trophies and a $100.00 will be awarded to one “Best of Show” overall winner from each of the three categories.
Year: 2015 Theme: “A Century of Black Life, History and Culture”
January 21-22 All artwork should be taken to the YISD Fine Arts Dept, 8455 Alameda Street between 8:00am-5:00pm.
January 29 Artwork will be judged by local artists.
February 20 Awards presentation at the La Galeria de la Mision de Senecu, 6:00p-7:30pm
February 2-20 Exhibit will be open to the public (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
February 23 All artwork should be picked up from La Galeria de la Mision de Senecu by 5:00 PM
The following guidelines must be met:
1. All art must depict a Black History Theme.
2. Poster size: 12 X 18 inches minimum to 22 x 28 inches maximum.
3. The medium may be: tempera ink, crayon, oil paints, pastels, charcoal, color pencils, pencils, or acrylic.
4. Art projects must be the work of the individual student (group work will not be judged).
5. It is strongly recommended that each work be matted.
6. Each entry must have a label containing the following information and affixed on the back of the artwork with the following: Title, student name, grade, school, teacher name, current year and district.
