CARE PACKAGE SUGGESTIONS – GENERAL SUPPLIES

·  small Alarm Clock (clock w/alarm only, no radio-it’s against the rules)

·  underwear (6 boxer/briefs and 6 v-neck tees for boys; 6 bras, 2 sports bras, 6 panties, 2 ‘grandma’ panties for girls)

·  a small photo album (4x6 pics of family, friends, car, pets, etc)

·  A zippered pouch or small container with health/first aid items (see below)

·  camera, digital, disposable, etc..

·  postage stamps and other stationery goods

·  Tide-To-Go stain remover pen or Shout wipes

·  CD-R discs (some prefer CD-RW)

·  lint roller

·  one set fork, spoon, knife

·  large heat-resistant mug or bowl with handle for making ramen noodles or Easy Mac

·  non-breakable bowl/plate

·  electric coil for boiling water and heating broth (can found at grocery or discount stores)

·  drinking glass for making drink mixes

·  storage items - Glad reusable storage containers (just a few), Ziploc

·  bags (mice have been seen in the dorms)

·  Lysol or Clorox wipes

·  Downy spray

·  Odor eaters or other shoe freshener

·  Swiffer dusters (great for fast dusting before a snap inspection)

·  Room freshener/Febreeze/Lysol spray

·  Sunglasses

·  school supplies

·  stapler, three-hole punch, metallic push-pins,

·  favorite pens & pencils, scissors, tape, printer paper, etc.

·  a small portable file to organize their papers (can be the plastic portfolio style)

·  inexpensive screwdriver set or multi tool (Leatherman or Swiss Army Knife maximum allowable blade length, 3.5”)

·  duct tape

·  spending money

·  small fan for the desk

·  full spectrum light bulb to guard against eye strain, as recommended by USASFA professors (Ott Light replacement bulb T18330, 18W will fit current Academy desk lamps can be found at Joann Fabrics and Dick Blick websites)
FOOD CARE PACKAGE SUGGESTIONS

Doolies will not have access to a refrigerator unless they make friends with a benevolent upperclassman. Also, many Doolies will not want to go out into the hall to get the squadron microwave (exposes them to “training” by upperclassmen), so some of these things may need to wait. Ask your cadet how things are in his/her particular squadron policies and strictness can vary.

·  instant hot cereals, oatmeal, plain or flavored

·  cup of soup/ramen soups

·  cheese and peanut butter crackers and the like

·  freeze dried camping food

·  Easy Mac

·  a jar of Goober grape or just peanut butter or Nutella

·  instant rice with seasoning packets

·  Pop Tarts

·  pull tab cans of fruit/applesauce

·  beef or turkey jerky

·  cheese sticks

·  nuts

·  dried fruits and veggies

·  trail mix

·  candy

·  instant coffee or cappuccino

·  protein bars, granola bars, Fiber one bars

·  microwave popcorn

·  instant mashed potatoes (plain or flavored)

·  Instant pasta meals

·  powdered coffee creamers

·  Jello pudding cups

·  pretzels and chips

·  squeeze packs of cream cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayo, jelly, honey, etc.

VERY IMPORTANT: Sick Day Kit: saltines, individual apple sauce cups, chicken broth, bottled water, chamomile tea. Tell your cadet NOT TOTOUCH this unless they are ill. This is a lifesaver when they feel horrible...and they will at some point in their Academy career.
MEDICAL CARE PACKAGE SUGGESTIONS
The cadets receive good medical care from the Academy, but there are days when there is just no time or energy to get to the cadet clinic. A few supplies can make a big difference, or at least lessen their discomfort until they can get medical attention. This list is a general list that will depend on your cadet and what they tolerate and are accustomed to using.

·  Chapstik or some form of lip balm

·  Pepto Bismol

·  Mylanta or Maalox tabs

·  Antihistamine

·  Cough syrup

·  Thermometer

·  Cough and sore throat lozenges

·  Several Small Packets of Salt for gargling

·  Antibiotic Topical Ointment, ex: Polysporin, Bacitracin, Betadine.

·  Advil, Tylenol, Aleve

·  Imodium AD or other diarrhea medicine

·  Ice bag

·  Disposable Hand and Toe warmers (great for long hauls across campus on cold days or ski trips)

·  Ace Bandage

·  Gauze/Tape

·  Band-Aids

·  Alcohol, peroxide, Bactine for cleansing wounds

·  Tears eye drops to combat Colorado dryness

·  Saline nose spray for dryness

·  Stress Vitamins (has extra zinc and C, and B vitamins)

·  If they are prone to strained ankles, maybe those Isoprene ankle braces

·  Mentholatum heals and comforts severely chapped lips
