JOB TITLE / Pupil Support Officer – LACES
PAY BAND / Grade 6 (points 30-35) £26,293 - £30,178
(12 month Secondment 1st Sept 2015 – 31st Aug 2016)
LOCATION / Toxteth Annexe, Aigburth Road, Liverpool L17 7BN
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB / To support children in corporate care to achieve their educational potential
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO / LACES Programme Manager
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR / Promoting the education and inclusion of Children looked after especially those who are at risk of under achievement or exclusion.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

·  Provide immediate response to schools and social workers when the education or school placement of Children Looked After (CLA) are at risk of breakdown.

·  Attend LAC Reviews and meetings of professionals and partners to provide advice and support in the formulation of education plans for CLA who are at risk of exclusion, under achievement or have poor school attendance.

·  Promote the inclusion and priority of CLA in all LA educational and therapeutic services such as: School Admissions, Social Inclusion, Attendance, SEN, Education Psychology etc.

·  Attend Fair Access Panel (or equivalent) to represent and advocate on behalf of CLA

·  Liaise with Social Workers, Designated Teachers, Foster Carers, Care homes and Residential Staff in the planning and delivery of educational services for CLA pupils.

·  Contribute to the administration, planning and development of LACES.

·  Provide monitoring, evaluation and other progress reports.

·  Contribute to the wider LACES programme of training, information sharing and networking to our partners, service providers and target groups.

·  Carry out any duties which are required for the effective support and development of the project.
