App Maker Pro (AMP): Motivating STEM Study

High school teachers, here’s a great opportunity for you to:

·  Learn to develop or modify existing apps.

·  Keep up-to-date on modern science, engineering and mathematic principles.

·  Work with ASU faculty, industry experts in app design.

Join Project AMP Cohort 3! Sessions will be held in labs at ASU’s Polytechnic campus. The Showcase Open House meets on the final day of each session. Dates and times are:

·  Fall 2016 semester meetings: Saturdays, Oct 22 and 29; Nov. 5, 12, and 19; Dec. 3, 9am - noon.

·  Spring 2017 meetings: Saturdays, Jan 21 and 28; Feb 4, 11, and 25; March 4, 9am - noon.

·  Summer and Fall, 2017, and Spring 2018 dates TBD.

Villagers meet to produce apps to advance learning in STEM and related fields on the ASU Polytechnic campus.

Leaders of AMP Design Villages are faculty from ASU colleges or scientists from business and industry. Members of AMP Villages are high school Teachers, secondary teachers, and ASU undergraduate majors in computer science who serve as mentors.

For participation in this project, teachers will receive a stipend of $450/semester and $900/summer and all apps developed by your cohort. We also will provide you with a certificate indicating your participation in this National Science Foundation project.

TEACHER PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT FORM

(Submit by August 30, 2016 or sooner)

To be a member of a Project AMP Design Village for Cohort 3, I commit to stay in the program from Fall 2016 through Spring 2018. Project AMP is a research project that requires data from all participants.* Project researchers will follow your academic performance for one year after completion of the project. I am free to withdraw at any time. I will receive a stipend of $450/semester and $900/summer for participation.

As part of the project I agree to:

1.  Attend all Project AMP Design Village meetings held on ASU’s Polytechnic campus. Meetings are scheduled for 2 weeks in the summer and on Saturday mornings for 6 weeks each semester.

2.  Be interviewed during participation in project activities.

3.  Be videotaped during my work in the village. *

4.  Complete surveys and assessments about my interests, aptitudes, and knowledge about career choices and my knowledge about science, technology, mathematics, and engineering. *

5.  Present my project work at the Showcase Open House.

* Surveys, videotapes and interviews will be viewed by project staff only and will be destroyed at the end of the project.

I understand that no names will be attached to any data that are reported.

I understand that I may withdraw from the project at any time without penalty.

August 30, 2016 and there is space in the program, your notification for admission will be later.
