Session 2E July 12- August / Provides intensive study opportunities for rising 9th through 12th graders (ages 14-17). Summer Discovery Program / Various dates at different schools between June 21 and August 15, 2010 / Summer Discovery is a pre-college enrichment program designed to give the student a real college experience on campus, including the opportunity to earn college credit, take on internships, and participate in community service.

Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (administered by the American Society for Engineering Education) / Not specified / Eight week summer research opportunities at participating ONR laboratory (labs are located in AZ, CA, FL, MD, MI, PA, RI, VA, and DC). This opportunity includes a stipend of $3,000. Students must be at least 16 years old (graduating seniors are allowed to apply)

National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine / 10-day programs, exact dates not specified / NYLF is a program dedicated to early recognition and preparation of promising future physicians. Academic achievement and an interest in medicine are the primary criteria for admission. Students must be in 9th through 12th grades and show academic and leadership potential. American Legion 2010 Boys State Program / June 20-16, 2010 at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD / The program’s aim is to expose current high school juniors to the United States Constitutional form of government. The program will emphasis the necessity of their future active participation as a citizen in the government process to insure continuing freedoms and rights. / Additional information and applications are available in the Guidance Office. NACEL Open Door Congress-Bundstag Vocational Youth Exchange Program / Summer 2010; dates not specified / This program allows graduating high school seniors to spend a year in Germany living with a host family, participating in a school or training program, and getting hands-on work experience through an internship with a German company. Participants have been placed in fields as diverse as the arts, auto mechanics, biotechnology, child care, computer science, education, forestry, health care, hotel management, international business, journalism, political science, and veterinary science to name a few. / Completed applications must be received no later than February 15, 2010 although earlier applications are encourages. School of the Arts Pre-College Summer Program / July 11-30, 2010 / High school students from around the country will immerse themselves in Animation, Digital Filmmaking, Digital Photography, Fashion Design and Merchandising. Graphic Design, Theatre, 2D/3D Portfolio Development (Drawing and Sculpture), and 2D Portfolio Development (Drawing and Painting)

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center 2010 Junior Volunteer Program / 6 week program / Johns Hopkins offers a wide variety of placements for youth who may be interested in careers in the health field.
Students must complete an application packet and all prospective Junior Volunteers will be interviewed and will participate in a hospital orientation session before starting the program. Daniel Fox Youth Scholars Institute at Lebanon Valley College / June 20-25, 2010 / This is a residential program for students who have completed 9th, 10th, or 11th grade and gives them the opportunity to complete challenging academic activities, learn about careers opportunities in their chosen fields, develop the skills needed to successfully navigate the social side of college life, and demonstrate to others s firm interest in higher education.

Science: June 21-25, 2010 / Engineering: Students will gain a first-hand, project-based experience with the work that engineers do. Each day students will participate in mini-design projects followed by field trips to see real engineers working on full-scale versions of these same problems at local tech-driven companies.
Science: This program is designed to provide talented rising juniors and seniors with an opportunity to experience science in action and investigate current topics in science.
Selected students will be provided meals, housing, course materials, and two college credits upon completion of the program. Boston College Summer Experience Program / Six weeks from June 28 until August 5 / Live and study with your peers as you experience college, including earning college credits. Pratt Institute Summer 2010 Pre-College Program
(Brooklyn, NY) / July 6- July 30 / Each summer over 400 high school students seize the opportunity to experience college-level study in Pratt Institute’s PreCollege program. Students are immersed in a program of art, design, architecture, creative writing, or critical and visual studies, modeled after Pratt’s undergraduate offerings.
