Press Release Autumn 2015

Modern flower power from Wiinblad

Bjørn Wiinblad is experiencing a design renaissance and a number of the artist’s most popular products have been relaunched in recent years. Especially popular is the flowerpot, which brought colourful flower power to thousands of windowsills in Wiinblad’s heyday in the 1970s. This autumn brings fantastic news for the green thumbs of the world as Bjørn Wiinblad Denmark introduces Juliane: a modern interpretation of Wiinblad’s pedestalled flowerpot available in a range of colours and sizes that add a touch of Wiinbladian retro-nostalgia to Scandinavian interiors.

After simmering for a couple of seasons, the luxurious bohemian style of the 1970s has now broken into a full boil as one of the hottest design trends today. On the catwalk and in the home, leather, suede, weaves and velour are softening the sharp Scandinavian style with hippie-chic elements and ethnic Arabian night details. Florals are another strong trend we see used as inspiration for botanical prints on wallpaper and cushions and in the form of green plants integrated into home interiors to powerful effect, from lush palms to sculptural succulents.

In autumn 2015, Bjørn Wiinblad Denmark embraces these fashion trends with the introduction of the Juliane flowerpot series. A retro-cool design in a wide range of sizes and colours that creates little oases all over the home, wherever there is a need for a green zone.

Urban gardening

During his lifetime, Bjørn Wiinblad produced a great many creative flowerpot designs. In particular, the long-necked “flower ladies” with their artful faces have lived on as attractive collector’s items, and with the lofty new Juliane series, Bjørn Wiinblad Denmark builds on that design heritage with a charming and contemporary flowerpot fit for the year 2015. Like her sister designs, Juliane, with her pointed nose and seductive eyes, places all manner of plants on a pedestal – from autumn heather to the white Christmas rose, from green plants to the trendy cactus. The design’s white glaze and colourful decorations bring the flower power of the 1970s back to life on contemporary windowsills.

This autumn’s new products from Wiinblad are all made from white porcelain and will be available in stores from mid-September 2015.
