- Reports into: Executive Director of Income & Finance
- Line Manages: Head of Individual Giving and Head of Fundraising Development
- Contacts which the post holder has within and outside the organisation:Works closely with the Assistant Director of Engagement,the Business Development team, and Fundraising and External Affairs Heads ofTeam. Liaises with the CEO, Trustees, experts, all Directors including the Nations, colleagues from all departments, and Regional Directors, providing advice and guidance on fundraising issues, online and offline.
- MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- To lead, manage and co-ordinate donor engagement activities to:
Raise and grow voluntary income from individuals;
Inspire non-financial supporters to become donors;
Integrate the aims and objectives of fundraising into the organisational plans & activities.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with the Assistant Director of Engagement (who leads the Media, Digital, Marketing and Brand functions)to implement the Fundraising Strategic plan2017-21to ensure sustainable growth in voluntary income for the organisation, andto ensure joint-planning and co-ordination across the organisation of all online and offline supporter facing activity.
- To support the Director of Income and Finance in providing fundraising leadership, direction and expertise to drive aims and objectives of Samaritans, creating a shared sense of purpose across the organisation.
- Provide fundraising policy guidance and advice to the Director of Income & Finance and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice codes of conduct
- To lead the development, implementation and evaluation of an effectiveengagement strategy. Oversight of activity across all donor engagement teams ofDirect Marketing, Community & Events, and Supporter Services.
- Commission and interpret donor and potential donor insight and audience profiles and reporting to monitor success and inform organisational engagement activity and planning.
- Leadership of donor journey planning, evaluation and reporting, with oversight of the implementation by teams.
- Provide organisational leadership for the fundraising aspects of the CRM project, working with relevant colleagues to successfully implement and realise the full benefits of an integrated and single view system.
- Lead a programme of change to increase the digital capability of the Donor Engagement team, including changes to planning and processes; recruitment and training; and systems and data
- Lead the development and marketing of a portfolio of successful fundraising products, making effective use of digital technology.
- Recruit and manage staff with the appropriate skills to ensure desired outcomes and objectives and successfully achieved. Lead and motivate team to achieve individual and team targets.
- Liaise with colleagues in nations & regions to ensure effective and integrated approach to all donor engagement activity.
- Develop networks and build relationships with key stakeholders, charities, organisations and professional bodies
- Work as part of the Income and Finance leadership team in delivering the income targets and objectives for the year.
- Deputise for the Executive Director of Income & Finance as required.

Part 2: PERSON SPECIFICATION
- SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
Extensive fundraising experience and/or other relevant experience in developing and managing processes for income generating customer journeys, with a provenand relevant track record.
Experience of leading and managing integrated communications or engagement strategies.
Proven leadership and management capabilities, demonstrating ability to inspire, empower and motivate others and build high performing teams.
Experience of leading a programme of change to increase the digital capability of a team.
Strategic understanding of how to use customer data to increase engagement and income.
Experience of managing the development of a portfolio of fundraising products, especially digital products.
Comprehensive understanding of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
Comprehensive understanding of KPI setting & monitoring and reporting on income generating performance.
Innovative and creative thinker with the ability to test new initiatives and build compelling cases for investment.
Excellent knowledge of fundraising regulation and governance.
Ability to collaborate, influence and inspire colleagues and volunteers to further. Samaritans ability to generate income.
An ability to build strong internal relationships.
Excellent, written and verbal communication skills.
Experience of senior relationship management and agency management.

- Graduate or qualified by experience.
- Fundraising qualification desirable
