Executive Committee Updates

President/Vice President Report:Julie Welch/Jennifer Koval

  • No school for MLK Day. 1/28 is the Dare graduation for 5th graders from 12:15 to 1:00. Early release day on 1/29.
  • 2/3 fundraiser at Smashburger in Westerville (more info later). Skate Zone 71 on Feb 5. No school Feb 6 for Waiver day. 2/7 is mother/son night (Otterbein basketball game). 2/10 is the PTA meeting.
  • Note the change of dates: Feb 23-27 is Staff appreciation week.
  • 2/17 is 4th grade recorder concert and 2/19 is 5th grade concert.
  • Still waiting for dates on field day and art show. No date for regatta.
  • Book fair Mar 16-20.
  • Mar 6 is Father/daughter dance.

Treasurer Report: Tricia Bowling

  • We got the Chipotle check and Texas Roadhouse check.
  • We deposited box tops for January (over $800)

Secretary Report: Dianna Narotski

  • Nothing to report.

Principal Update

Principal: Mr. Rahm

  • OTELA tests begin Feb 3, 4, 5. PARCC 3rd grade math, 4th grade math, LA, SS and 5th grade math, LA, science – begins Feb 19
  • 3rd grade only takes OAA on Apr 28 and PARCC for math. They do not have to take PARCC language arts.
  • 4th does everything online, 5th does science online.
  • Technology update: entering phase 2… expecting a cart of approx. 32 Chromebooks that is going to 4th grade and more to 5th grade. iPads will go down to younger grades.
  • This year we are doing winter intervention via online programs (Lexia and Myon).
  • Tenmarks is a math program that the district is moving forward to purchasing it for next year, and we have it for 3rd thru 5th grade for this year. The questions align very well to the PARCC.
  • 5th grade will be piloting Achieve 3000 for reading.

Standing Committee Reports

  • Parent council: Jennifer Koval. The last meeting was Nov 19.
  • Meetings on the 3rd Wed of the month.
  • Bowlathon on Sat Feb 21 at the Columbus Bowling Palace.
  • Next Tues – Harlem wizards are coming
  • Mother/son night is Feb 7th and is free.
  • Box tops cuts a check in Dec and April. 1st 3 weeks in Feb will be a box top contest.
  • Labels for Education – we are still collecting those, send those in!
  • The points we get from Kroger give us cash.
  • Yearbook – sale is Jan 26 and goes for 2 weeks.
  • Reflections – we had 11 kids participate this year and we advanced 10 to the district level (the top 3 for each category). 6 of those kids placed at the district level. At least 3 of those kids will be advancing to the state competition.
  • We have a safe now, and if you have any cash that needs to be deposited, you can put it in the safe until it can be deposited.
  • Soccer nets – On Amazon, a 2-pack of soccer nets costs $93.99 and will come out of the playground budget. We will look into the cost for a basketball rim.
  • We have a $500 scholarship to a former Annehurst student that can be applied for.

New Business and Questions / Comments / Issues

  • We need to put together a nominating committee. It is a group of 3 people who look over the nominations for the positions and choose a slate of the people that they recommend for the offices of the executive board, which is then voted on.
  • We have several vacancies for committee chairpersons that we know of for next year. If you are interested in chairing one of these committees, please contact one of us or the current person doing the committee.
