METIS NATION OF ALBERTA

OBJECT: METIS COMMUNITY IN BEAUCE

Hello,

By the present, I would like to seek the cooperation of everyone.

Originating from Beauce, my ancestors have always lived as Métis, my great-grandmother being Indian (without knowing from which nation) and my great-grandfather being a trapper. My grandmother have passed down to me the native teachings that she possessed, but always without the knowledge of everyone since it was at the time where it was forbidden. For two years now, I am doing research on the genealogy of Beauce, the native documents, and the history in order to bring out the truth not only about my ancestors, but also about everyone who died anonymously.

My community is made up of about 200 members who are all located on the territory of Beauce or Chaudière Appalache and are all related to a Metis ancestor who was a fur trader.

I am working in historical and genealogical research in order to trace history but mainly the truth. I am trying to give back the identity to our ancestors as well as to me and to free them from their false past because as long as we do not have that, we are a false person and too many have been buried under this lie. There is the true freedom of being who we are, what we are from the beginning of history to today.

Although the Métis Nation is not acknowledged in Québec, I am leading a fight in this sense. For this reason, I am asking for your collaboration. We are setting up a native documentation centre in order to succeed in tracing the historical, genealogical, civil documents. We have thought that an information-trading network would be beneficial to everybody. Therefore, we are offering you to send you a CD containing the information that we have about history as well as genealogy. In exchange everybody could send us a copy of theirs. With those information, we would make an other CD containing all of the information of everybody and we would redistribute it to everybody, and a copy would also be available at the information centre. Also, if you have books in more than one copy or that are relevant for us, we would like to know their titles so that we can buy them.

In the expectation of your answers, I thank you for taking time to read my letter written in total sincerity and loyalty.
