PS – FP7 - Search of an SME company producing and packing fresh pasta for an approved proposal under negotiation
Abstract of the request(max. 500characters):
A Spanish research centre in the plastics sector looks for an SME to participate in an FP7 project under negotiation, already approved by the European Commission. Its aim is to develop innovative fully biodegradable and recyclable multilayer flexible and transparent structures to package food products (fresh pasta and cheese) requiring customized Modified Atmosphere (MAP). The role of the partneris to define the requirements of the packaging and its further validation.

The company sought is invited to participate in an FP7 project which has been approved by the Commission and which is under negotiation.
The aim of BIO4MAP is the development of innovative fully biodegradable and recyclable multilayer flexible and transparent structures for food package food products (fresh pasta and cheese) that requires customized Modified Atmosphere (MAP).The role of this company is to define the requirements and structure of the semi-rigid multilayer packaging designed for fresh pasta products. Also this partner is requested to participate in the product validation at industrial scale in real conditions and shelf life tests.

BIO4MAP consortium has a well-balanced composition. It brings together a wealth of expertise and resources within the areas of:
  • Selective biopolymers and additives, to enhance barrier properties of recyclable and biodegradable multilayer packaging.
  • Adhesives’ modification and Natural wax based coating production.
  • Processing by cast-sheet co-extrusion and thermoforming processes for obtaining food packages.
The SMEs will be actively involved in different phases of the project. They will participate in:
  • The Project Management (they are members of the Management and Exploitation Boards).
  • The definition of the new packages requirements.
  • The scale-up of the developed biodegradable adhesives
  • The work packages related to the processing technologies (blown film co-extrusion process, cast-sheet co-extrusion and thermoforming process, and laminating process).
  • The validation of the developed transparent, multilayer, biodegradable and recyclable packages.
  • The Dissemination and Training activities.
  • Promoting the exploitation of the project results.
  • Exploitation of the project results. The SMEs will be the only owners of the project results and RTD partners will enjoy access rights to foreground according to the Consortium Agreement that will be signed before the project starts.
