A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO WELCOME THE HONORABLE HAUOA DIATTA, DISTINGUISHED AUTHOR AND WIFE OF HIS EXCELLENCY JOSEPH DIATTA, THE AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED STATES FROM THE REPUBLIC OF NIGER, AS SHE AND HIS EXCELLENCY VISIT THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND ALLENDALE COUNTY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING CULTURAL TIES AND BETTER UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE PEOPLE OF ALLENDALE AND THE PEOPLE OF THE WEST AFRICAN REPUBLIC OF NIGER.
Whereas, the Honorable Hauoa Diatta will accompany her husband, His Excellency Joseph Diatta, the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger on a visit to Allendale June 22 and 23, 2001; and
Whereas, the Honorable Madame Diatta is well known in her own regard, having recently announced the publication of her book: Shadow of Africa: Life of an African Ambassador’s Wife; and
Whereas, this book chronicles recent events and past African history. It gives the world a rare glimpse into African culture and international diplomacy from a woman’s perspective; and
Whereas, the Honorable Hauoa Diatta contributes in many positive ways to the cross cultural and educational exchanges made possible with this visit to Allendale; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is honored to join in welcoming Mrs. Diatta to Allendale County. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, welcome the Honorable Hauoa Diatta, distinguished author and wife of His Excellency Joseph Diatta, the Ambassador to the United States from the Republic of Niger, as she and His Excellency visit the State of South Carolina and Allendale County for the purpose of establishing cultural ties and better understanding between the people of Allendale and the people of the West African Republic of Niger.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Hauoa Diatta.
