COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is the third course in the Architectural Drawing Pathway. Through projects and activities, students will further their knowledge of the architectural/construction industries. This course encourages the use of decision-making, productivity, communications, and problem-solving skills. Areas of instruction include electrical and site plans, sections and details, and presentations. Competencies for the co-curricular student organizations, SkillsUSA, are integral components.

GRADING PROCEDURE

Student grades are based on mastery of content and performance. The following weights will be used to calculate grades.

  • 1” three ring binder
  • Pencil box
  • Set of 3 labeled dividers
  • Notes
  • Quizzes
  • Graded worksheets
  • Thumb drive – 1gb or larger highly recommended
  • Request one of the following for classroom supplies:
  • Box of tissues
  • Roll of masking tape
  • Hand sanitizer/lotion

ABSENCES AND MAKE-UP PROCEDURE

If you have an unexcused absence at any time during the year, you will not be allowed to make up work that was missed. This includes exams, tests, quizzes, class work or homework that was due that day. If the absence was excused, it will be your responsibility to get notes and assignments that were missed from one of the students in your group. For each day that you were absent, you will have the same number of days to complete your make up work. If assignment requires a drafting table or a computer, the student must schedule a time to complete the work before or after school. Make appropriate arrangements with s. Brightand don’t forget to secure a ride home.

SCHOOL WIDE RULES

  • Bring all needed materials to class.
  • Be in the class ready to work when the bell rings.
  • Abide by the instructor’s classroom procedures.
  • Respect and be polite to all people.
  • Respect other people’s property.

CLASS RULES

  • Come to class with notebook, pencil and flash drive (highly recommended)
  • Be respectful and mindful of equipment, classmates, and your teacher.
  • No food or drink, except closed water containers
  • Follow directions quickly the first time they are given and begin work without delay.
  • Ask three before me.
  • Tidy up before dismissal. Return books, supplies and equipment to proper place.
  • No passes out of class within the first 15 and the last 15 minutes of class.

TARDY PROCEDURE

Be inside the lab when the bell rings. If you are tardy, and it is unexcused, you will receive a zero for any activity, including tests and exams that were completed or turned in during that time. Additionally, if your tardy is unexcused and more than 5 minutes after the bell, you will not be allowed to enter the class. The only time a tardy will be excused is when a legitimate note from an administrator or teacher is presented when you enter the lab. Discipline for tardiness will follow Ola High School tardy procedures.

1st tardy - warning and student/teacher conference

2nd tardy - parent contact

3rd tardy - before/after school detention

4th tardy - referral to an assistant principal

CONSEQUENCES

First offense – write up procedure begins, student - teacher conference

  • Second offense – write up continues, parent - teacher communication
  • Third offense – write up continues, thirty minute detention, before or after school
  • Fourth offense – referral to an administrator
  • Major offenses (insubordination, fighting, etc.) will result in an automatic referral toan administrator.

SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a co-curricular student organization in Career and Technical Education courses that promotes leadership, career planning, competitions, community service and social networking. Dues are $35.00 which includes national, state and local membership. Membership is strongly encouraged for all students enrolled in this course.
