Hi everyone! I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dana Sullivan and I am the new owner of Super Hearts Kids Consignment Sale, formerly Kids Exchange Wilmington. My husband, Robbie and I purchased the existing Kids Exchange Wilmington Sale a few weeks ago. We are extremely excited about this opportunity that God has provided us and look forward to working with each one of you and creating new relationships.
Although we are new owners and the name of the sale will be changing, nothing about the sale is changing. All things will run the same as it has in the past. The former owner will be helping us through our first sale and we are grateful to her for that. My mom and I have been shopping at consignment sales for almost 11 years. We have always loved finding a good deal whether it be at a yard sale, flea market or estate auction. Once my husband and I found out we were pregnant with our first daughter, we found a consignment sale to attend and fell in love! My mom and I have attended at least two sales per year, sometimes more, since then. I have also sold my children's outgrown clothes, shoes and toys many times. I am always impressed with the amount of money one person can make off their outgrown children's items. I ALWAYS make more than in a yard sale and don't have to worry with meeting people on line to sell the items. Purchasing this sale, formally Kids Exchange Wilmington, is very exciting for me. I get to do something that I love and meet new people in the process.
Robbie and I have two children. We recently lost our third child, Emma, who we adopted. She passed at the age of 6 months due to a heart defect that also caused her to have pulmonary hypertension. We live in Sanford, NC and my mom and dad own a small place in Supply, NC. I grew up coming to Carolina Beach many times during the summer and got to spend some Christmases there. My grandmother, along with two sets of aunts and uncles live in Wilmington as well. My family loves the beach. We are down as often as possible between the beginning of spring and the end of summer/beginning of fall. We love the Holden Beach area but also love visiting South Port, Fort Fisher, Kure Beach, Carolina Beach and Wilmington. My son loves to be on the water, so we ride the ferry quite often and take the river boat tours in Wilmington.
You may be asking, why the new name? We chose Super Hearts Kids Consignment Sale in honor and memory of our daughter Emma. She is our super hero! She was born with trisomy 21 and a congenital heart defect called atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD). She spent the first 55 days in the hospital. We were able to have her at home almost four full months before she returned to the hospital with complications from her AVSD. Through all that Emma fought through, she was so sweet and had a beautiful smile. She was also extremely feisty and a fighter. She was scheduled to have open heart surgery on August 10th but was unable to do so. We also have a second cousin who is five years old who has had many open heart surgeries due to a ventricular septal defect. She started kindergarten this year. She is also a fighter and has such a sweet spirit. She is also a super hero! We would also like to honor her and all children and families that have encountered a congenital heart defect. These kids are super heroes with Super Hearts!
I want to thank you for your time in reading this. Again, Robbie and I are so very excited for this new chapter in our lives and look forward to meeting each of you. Slowly but surely you will see the website name and Facebook name change to Super Hearts. The name on your tags as you print them going forwardwill say Super Hearts on them. Tags with Kids Exchange Wilmington on them will continue to work as well for the upcoming sale so please do not feel you need to reprint them. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you and God Bless!
