15th Annual YWIH QUARTET CONTEST AND ENSEMBLE

The contest will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2105 at 7:00 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Bakersfield, CA. Contestants and individual singers will have the opportunity to sing one song in the Ensemble which will rehearse from 1:00 – 4:30 in the Lakes Room that same afternoon. The first place quartet (scoring a minimum “C” level) receives funding (maximum of $3,500) to the International Rising Star contest in New Zealand held in the summer of 2016. If the quartet chooses not to attend the International contest, no money prize will be awarded.

Contest Rules:

·  Open to young women age 25 or under by next summer's Rising Star Contest.

·  Sweet Adelines' contest rules for song selection and scoring will apply.

·  Contestants must reside in the boundaries of Region 11.

·  Contestants under 18 must be accompanied by adult chaperone.

·  Each quartet will be judged in the categories of Music, Sound, Expression and Showmanship. Ties will be broken by the highest score in the Sound Category.

·  Registration Deadline: Postmarked by OCTOBER 5, 2015
