Dear New ASD Family!

Congratulations on your acceptance to the High School at ASD. Please allow us to welcome you and your family to the American School of Doha (ASD). We certainly are glad you have joined our school community and we look forward to getting to know you.

At ASD, we offer a wide range of extra curricular experiences such as after-school activities, special events and field trips. These special opportunities occur with the involvement of many parents that help make these activities successful. As a new parent at ASD, you are needed to assist us in moving our program ahead. You are encouraged to join the Booster Club, the Creative Arts Support Team and the PTA. We will be holding a New Parent Orientation in the MS/HS Theater on Sunday, August 25th from 12:00 -1:00. Your High School aged children are encouraged to attend this meeting with you. A New Student Orientation will immediately follow from 1:00 - 4:00 in the High School Gym. Our first day of school will begin Monday, August 26th at 8:00 a.m.

Another exciting opportunity here at ASD will be the possibility of your child participating in a High School Service trip. Here is a video trailer about ASD’s High School Service Trip opportunities that will be offered next spring break. If you are interested in these trips, email Mr. Shang at . Spots tend to fill quickly. For a look at what we do on these trips, we have a Facebook page called ASD International Service Trip with pictures from past trips.

Please be aware that your student needs their official, final and translated transcript from their previous school. All transcripts must be in English to be accepted. It is imperative that this official document be presented to the counselor when you come in for the intake appointment in order to ensure your student is placed in appropriate classes and is able to meet our graduation requirements.

More information is listed on the ASD website under the “On Campus” tab where the High School section is located, and there is a special listing for New Students. In the New Student section, you will be able to locate important information to help make your transition to our high school successful, including a link to our Program of Studies and Student Handbook. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these documents. You also will find information to help your child prepare for the math placement test that all new students will sit, if they have not already. This helps ensure that students are in the correct math class. The exam will be offered at the following times in the High School Office. Please make sure to come to one of the writings if you have not already done so.
