AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR HEALTHCARE
HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATION
CHAPTER MANAGEMENT RECOGNITION PROGRAM
2008
ASHHRA’s ALL STAR CHAPTER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
The American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration’s (ASHHRA) Chapter Management Recognition Program is designed to assist you in the efficient management of your chapter during your term in office. This manual is intended to serve as a guide and to highlight some of the activities that are trademarks of successful chapters.
We suggest that you review the manual, and assign members of your chapter various responsibilities for the areas that are mentioned. This will ensure that no one is overwhelmed, and will also assist you in the succession planning process.
You can earn recognition for yourself and your chapter by participating in ASHHRA’s Chapter Management Recognition Program. The Recognition Program provides the opportunity to be nationally recognized at ASHHRA’s Annual Conference and to receive a monetary award as well as free membership in ASHHRA (see below).
The Program has four separate levels of participation. Chapters can decide the level of participation. If your chapter produces a membership roster, has committees and conducts annual chapter meetings, you may be eligible for a 1 Star recognition. Each Level will receive recognition at ASHHRA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition as well as the following incentives:
LevelIncentive
4 Star$1,000 and 4 free annual ASHHRA memberships
3 Star$ 500 and 3 free annual ASHHRA memberships
2 Star$ 350 and 2 free annual ASHHRA memberships
1 Star$ 200 and 1 free annual ASHHRA membership
1st Time submission $100 + 1 free ASHHRA membership
The chapter must fully complete the level to receive the incentives. A chapter may complete as many levels as it chooses each year. For each award program year, you must complete each level you wish to achieve. For example, to advance from one level to the next, the previous level(s) must be complete. You cannot submit level 3 this year because you submitted level 2 last year. All levels must be completed each program year. (Certificate will expire October 31, 2009. Lost or misplaced certificate will not be replaced.)
The Program is based on five categories:
- Membership
- Chapter Management
- Communication
- Programming
- Chapter Projects
Emphasis in each level is given to such items as membership recruitment, seminars, workshops, participation and involvement in the local, regional and national levels, as well as to sound management.
All documentation must fall within the chapter program calendar year or the most recent chapter fiscal year not to exceed 12 months.
All materials submitted for consideration are to be received in the ASHHRA national office no later than June 20, 2008. All materials should be sent to:
