Westminster, Md.— Black Oak Associates announced today that building construction has begun on Eldersburg Commons, the highly anticipated $50 million redevelopment of the former Carrolltown Mall in Eldersburg, Md. The 290,000-square-foot project is set to open in the fall of 2015. KLNB Retail based in Towson, Md. is handling leasing for the project.
“It’s exciting to see Eldersburg Commons become a reality,” said Carroll County Commissioner Doug Howard. “The significant financial investment will have a positive impact on our community, add to area amenities and support our other economic development activities, providing new jobs and a stronger tax base allowing us to better meet the needs of a growing community.”
The project’s 189,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter also broke ground last week. The Walmart Supercenter will offer a broad assortment of products, including a full line of groceries, a bakery, and more than 30 merchandise departments such as apparel and accessories, health and beauty aids, a home center, electronics, and a pharmacy.
In addition to the Walmart Supercenter, Eldersburg Commons will be home to a variety of stores and restaurants, including T.J. Maxx (23,500 s.f.), Petco (12,500 s.f.), Noodles & Company (2,750 s.f.), AT&T (2,500 s.f.) and Chipotle (2,200 s.f.). The center is 85% pre-leased, and KLNB is focusing on additional junior anchor stores and small store leasing.
“We are rounding out the mix of tenants with complementary national and local stores,” explained Brian Finkelstein of KLNB Retail. “Given the powerful lineup of anchor tenants already committed and the affluence of the Eldersburg market, we are experiencing strong interest in the balance of Eldersburg Commons.”
