Associate Regional Director, Connecticut Valley Region

BBYO is the leading pluralistic, Jewish teen movement and has been providing exceptional leadership programs and identity enrichment experiences for 90 years. We offer year-round activities in hundreds of local communities and inspiring world-wide travel experiences enabling teens to explore areas of leadership, service, civic engagement, Israel education and Jewish values.

Position Summary:

The Associate Regional Director is responsible for growing the teen movement by developing AZA/BBG chapters, inspiring regional excellence, and broadening visibility of BBYO in the community.

We are currently hiring an Associate Regional Director for BBYO Connecticut Valley Region. The Connecticut Valley program has increased in size and scope each year. There are nearly 800 BBYO members spread throughout Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and Putnam County, NY. BBYO Connecticut Valley Region has close partnerships with local agencies and camps, and has a budding alumni and parent network. There is a great deal of structure and tradition associated with the program, and we are seeking an energetic, charismatic, and strategic individual who will help continue to grow and strengthen BBYO Connecticut Valley Region.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish an annual program calendar for each chapter based on principles of AZA and BBG.
  • Train teens as chapter leaders to run a meeting, plan a calendar, recruit new members, ensure program excellence, and create meaningful programs that attract other teens.
  • Plan programs in the community for Jewish teens in grades 6-12.
  • Build and maintain relationships with all key community stakeholders.
  • Support implementation of regional activities at direction of supervisor.
  • Recruit and train advisors to mentor and guide chapter excellence under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Participate in organizational projects, teams, and summer programs as assigned to expand the movement and strengthen teen leadership.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will take an entrepreneurial approach to creating Jewish activities that resonate with teens today, encouraging them to experience Judaism on their terms, and providing them the tools, resources and guidance to program in a way that adds value, meaning and identity to their lives.Experience in working with youth is preferred, as well as strong written/oral communication skills and a comfort level with technology/new systems.A college degree is required. Candidates must be available to staff a BBYO summer program that will be up to 3 weeks per summer.
