BIOLOGY II

ARCHAEA/BACTERIAL GROUP RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS

Objectives:

  • To become familiar with the different archaea and bacteria groups.
  • Understand the impact that archaea and bacteria have in our lives.

Requirements:

Each group will give a minimum 15 minute Google Slides presentation to the class. You are required to put two video clips linked from the Internet into your slide presentation. A “Works Cited” slide must be included. You need a minimum of four websites for sources.A printed copy of the slide presentation will be turned in to Mr. Kearns the day before presentations start from every group. If you are absent on the day your group gives the presentation, then you will give the presentation yourself during class or FAST period to earn your grade.

Each student will save their Google slides in their own Google drive and share it with me! This will enable you to work on your project on your own outside of classroom time if necessary. Someone in the group creates the presentation and shares it with all the group members and also with me, so each group member can add their part to it.

Each slide needs to have the name of the student who created itand text that you are going to say that is not being viewed on the slide by your audience in the notes box. (Have something to say that is not visible to your audience)

Grading Rubric (100 Possible Points):

*10 pointsHardcopy of the Google Slides presentation turned in on the day before presentation

*10 pointsEach member of the group speaking while giving their part of the Google Slides presentation

*20 pointsFor showing two video clips linked from the Internet to your Google Slides (ex. News clips, movie segments, etc…)

*50 pointsFor answering all the assigned questions during the Google Slides presentation

*10 pointsTen pictures of the bacterial group illustrating relationships to humans

*-5 pointsWill be deducted for each minute under 15 minutes for the presentation

*-5 pointsPer slide that contains large cut and paste paragraphs instead of your bulleted outlines

*-50 pointsIf your group is not ready when called upon to present their Google Slides presentation

* - all 100 pointsIf you do not cite sources with parenthetic citations and do not create a “Works Cited” slide that matches up with the citations.

The Website with information on how to cite sources that I want you to use:

If your source is a Web page:

The Name of the Web Page. The author/sponsor of web page. The day month abbr. year. The date you accessed it.The URL.
