Interpersonal Task:
Your friend also wants to apply for the next season of MasterChef Junior Partner,
so you decide to brainstorm together. You will first discuss what you learned about making macaroni and cheese. Then you will decide if you want to complete Option A, or Option B.
Option A: Submitting an original recipe together
Option B: Submitting separate recipes
You know that all recipe entries must be original, so you and your partner must be sure to put your own personal twist on your recipe/s. Together you will discuss which ingredients you will use, and how the recipe/s will be prepared, providing useful feedback for your partner.
Presentational Writing Task:
Now you are ready to write theoriginal recipe that you will submit to
MasterChef! You will need to include very specific information about the
ingredients, the tools and appliances required to prepare your recipe, and the
exact steps telling how to prepare it. Also be sure to include guidelines for who
would like the dish (and why), as well as why it is meaningful to you. You will need
to include a sketch of the finished dish, as well.
Presentational Speaking Task:
Option A: Good news! You and your partner have been selected by Chef Rodriguez
for thenext round of applicants for the show. As part of the next round, Chef
Rodriguezhas asked you to record yourselves creating your recipe. You and your
partner will present your recipe to the class, at which time your teacher will tape it
forsubmission.
Of course, there are specific rules to ensure that your submission is not rejected!
You must:
- divide the steps equally (i.e. Partner A states steps #1-5, Partner B states steps #6-10)
- have one partner “preparing” the dish to demonstrate while the other is explaining the steps. You will then switch roles. Suggestion: bring in/create props/pictures
- you must each individually share your guidelines and the reason this dish is meaningful to you
