FRIDAY, August 18 The morning is for NEW boarding families only. New day families should arrive by 1:30 PM.

8:00 AM – Noon Move-In Begin at Gym Turn-off

Residential houses will be open and staff will be for assistance. Proctors will be at the Welcome Table at the turn-off to the gym where you will receive a campus map, your housing assignment, the name of your house parent, a schedule for the day, and a nametag before proceeding to your house for move in. Your books will have been delivered to your room.

See your personalized schedule for the exact time and location. Your advisor will give you your class schedule, locker number, and combination.

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Refreshments & Information Wade Hall Commons & Various

During unscheduled times, parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with various opportunities, offices, and services on campus (see reverse). Refreshments will be available in Wade Hall Commons.

3:00 PM – 5:45 PM Students Participate in Orientation Activities Quad

3:15 PM – 3:30 PM Learning Resources Center Presentation for Parents (optional) Wade 113

Learning Resources Coordinator Malia Carlos will speak with parents about the services offered by the LRC, including training in time management, organization, and other study skills; providing Student Action Plans for students with diagnosed learning differences; coordinating the peer tutoring program; and supporting students to be independent, successful learners. Following the presentation, boarding parents may sign up for 10-minute consultations. Day families are encouraged to make an appointment for the coming week.

Athletic Director Rob Zeitler and Afternoon Program Coordinator Burki Gladstone are available to answer any questions you may have about our Afternoon Programs.

Private Music Lessons and Sewanee Symphony Orchestra Participation Agee Library

Our performing arts faculty will be available to answer any questions about scheduling private music lessons and/or participating in the Sewanee Symphony Orchestra.

Billing, Allowances, Activity Fees, & School Store Business Office & School Store

The Business Office staff is available to answer questions about tuition billing, allowances, and activity fees. Stop by our school store to purchase SAS gear or school supplies.

Health Concerns, Medications, etc. Health Clinic

Our nurses, Melissa Gilliam and Cheryl Lankhaar, welcome parents who would like to discuss their child’s health concerns or would simply like to meet our Health Clinic staff. Parents of boarding students who are on prescription medications must check in with the Health Clinic to discuss protocol for dispensing medications.

Parents Technology Training Technology Lab

Technology Coordinator Jaime Cleek will answer questions about your child’s technology needs and help you learn to use ParentsWeb (grades and academic information), FACTS (financial accounts), and MAGNUS (medical information), and subscribe to SASweb calendars.
