Requirements:
Promotion at primary university precedes request for promotion at VTCSOM
Cannot be promoted to higher rank than they have at primary university
NOT eligible for tenure to title track; all are considered non-tenure
May have or have had a primary appointment at another university OTHER THAN VT, JCHS, Radford
If have primary appointment at another university, rank is tied directly to that university appointment
If no appointment at another university, not eligible for promotion
Must be regular and sustained teaching activity at VTCSOM
Portfolios may be submitted in paper form but must be appropriately organized in PDF with bookmarks.
Portfolio should demonstrate the expectation of being active in all of the domains of active study. Select the domains in which you are active.
Basic Science Candidate – first three must be checked OR Clinician Candidate – all four must be checked
Teaching Scholarship Service Clinical care (if relevant)
AND demonstrate leadership in 2 of the 4 domains. Select the two in which the candidate is demonstrating leadership.
Basic Science Candidate - pick 2, one of which must be scholarship OR Clinician Candidate - pick any two
Teaching Scholarship Service Clinical care (if relevant)
Must be completed:
Letter from Candidate specifying requested track/rank
Letter from Department Chair (see guidelines for required content)
Letter from Department APRT Committee (see guidelines for required content)
Updated CV in VTCSOM Format (from Digital Measures)
Publications:
Clinician candidate, from Associate to Professor; must have 6 publications beyond those achieved at prior promotion
Basic science candidate, from Associate to Professor; must have 12 publications beyond those achieved at prior promotion
Support Letters:
Minimum of one required, but prefer two or more
Letters should explicitly state whether candidate would meet requirements at VTCSOM
Must come from VTCSOM faculty and/or administrators
Must comment on extent and quality of candidate's teaching and/or curricular development
