HOME: Healthy Aspects of Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport (PEPAS)
Working together at home is a very valuable part of this topic. Below we have given you some simple ideas to experience in your family.
1Draw out a grid with four columns and six lines. Label the columns- Days, Play, Rest
andSleep. Label the lines Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. For one school week, note down any energetic activity you do, what you do to relax /rest and how many hours sleep you get each day. Do you notice any pattern?
2Sleep gives your body and brain a break. Too little sleep can make you cranky and less
able to think clearly and follow directions. Get someone at home to help you come up with a Quiz for your school friends based on “Who Gets More Sleep?”Contrast your favourite animals with the recommendations for a child your age. Play this quiz with your friends.
3Rainy Day Play – You wake up and it is raining ‘cats and dogs’. How are you going to be active today? What about some indoor sports? Could you perhaps try a virtual game of tennis or skiing? What else can you think of? With the help of someone at home, come up with at least 3 ideas for being active indoors. Try these out and choose your favourite.

You may wish to try some of these suggestions to enhance your child’s experience.
