I. COURSE OVERVIEW:

Explore and investigate the relationships of the natural world, identify and analyze environmental problems, and examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.

II. GRADING:

Each assignment is important. They will all count toward your semester grade.

Six Weeks Grade

Major Assignments: Labs, Projects & Exams 3X

Minor Assignments: Homework & Classwork1X

III. STUDY HABITS:

The material in this course must be studied and learned daily as it is presented because the units build upon one another. The actual amount of time spent will depend upon each student's background. If a student does not understand a concept, he or she should see me as soon as possible.

IV. TUTORING HOURS:

Tutoring is available before school, during lunch, and afterschool by appointment. There are

4 Environmental Systems teachers who are available for assistance.

V. LATE WORK & MAKE-UP WORK:

A. Late work:Life happens…. Any assignments not completed and turned in on time can be submitted for partial credit. There will be a penalty of 10 points off for every day the assignment is late for maximum of 70. Assignments more than 3 dayslate will NOT be accepted. No assignments will be accepted the last week of each 6 week grading period.

B. Make-up work:. Make-up work is the responsibility of the student who missed class. Students are responsible for obtaining missed work from the teacher when absent. Work must be turned in on the specified date. Students have one day for each day absent due to illness or school related activity to turn in missing work. Failure to make up these grades will result in a ZERO for the missed grade.

C. Missing a lab: If the lab set-up in my room, students may come during tutoring hours to complete the lab. Otherwise, students write a paper on the lab topic.

Cell phones, Ipods and other electronics are not to be used in class unless instructed by me. They will be confiscated if seen or heard in class.

VII. REQUIRED SUPPLIES (needed daily):

Students will need a Science Notebook (will be discussed in class) and pen/pencils.

Each student will be responsible for contributing to class set of supplies that will be

used throughout the year.

1st Period- 1 Pack of Markers

3rd Period- 1 container of hand soap

8th Period- 1 Box of Facial Tissue
