Meeting Minutes

Recreation Leader’s Report:
Nick reported that the after school was running well. Upcoming activities include Family Feud, Connect 4, Comic Book Club, Jeopardy, Chain Reaction & Balloon Volleyball. Lastly, Nick explained that several staff members would be starting spring sports soon and new staff would be needed.
MOTION by Garry Nelson to approve new staff at the rate indicated.

Friday Night dances and Date Night will continue through May. Attendance has been steady throughout the school year.
The 7-8 CoEd division of Hamburg Little Cagers concluded earlier this week on Monday and Tuesday. The program was filled to capacity and experienced great success. Highlighting this year was a visit by members of the Canisius College Men’s and Woman’s Basketball teams.
Recreation Supervisor’s Report:
Josh started by giving the Commission a playground update. Demolition has taken place and soil testing has begun with further testing needed to remedy the affected area. Diseased or dying trees have been removed and will be replaced after build days. Build days are set for April 28 & 29, as well as May 5 & 6. DPW will be prepping the area as Build day’s approach.
Hamburg Little Cagers games will continue through February with playoffs beginning in March. Josh mentioned a few conduct issues that have been dealt with recently
HJBSL online registration has begun and will continue through Sunday, March 5th. Additionally, Josh wrote and sent a letter to Hamburg schools and has a meeting set up with Superintendent Cornell to discuss the demolition of Legion Field Diamond A and the possible creation of a 90 ft. diamond somewhere on Hamburg district land.
Josh informed the Commission that the expansion of the MLK Day Food Drive was a success and thanked our partners. The total amount of food collected was 13,400 lbs. of food.
