Writing Prompts

1st-2nd Grades make an effort to do Narrative and Nonfiction (Science/Social Studies) Pieces for Scoring.

3rd-5th Grades Must Do 2 Narratives and 2 Nonfiction (Science/Social Studies) Pieces for Scoring This Year.

Please don’t do Sentence Starters for Writing Prompts that students may use for the beginning of every sentence. The purpose of using the writing rubric for the writing samples is to see what students can do independently. Assign a topic and use the rubric to see how well the students develop a story from beginning to end.
