Our Mission Statement: We are an association that provides learning and leadership opportunities for our students within the field of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology through community service projects, internal and external networking, and outstanding academic achievement.
The mission statement defines who we are, not just to ourselves, but to those who we attempt to serve. It is the starting point for everything we are as Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
Our Core Values: Wisdom, Society, Scholarship, Leadership, Humanitarian, and Advocacy.
These core values guide every activity that the organization undertakes. It is our compass and provides us with purpose and clarity.
Why join WSSLHA?
Being involved in WSSLHA provides students the opportunity to belong to an organization that encourages active involvement in developing fuller awareness of the issues surrounding Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Active involvement and membership enables WSSLHA to sponsor a variety of events. These events include guest lectures, social gatherings, charitable works, fundraising and the annual WSSLHA graduation banquet.

There are four primary committees that WSSLHA maintains on a continuous basis. You are asked to actively participate in one committee during each academic school year. You may choose more than one committee. Keep in mind as well, that throughout the year the general membership and/or the Executive Council will organize sub-committees within these four primary committees to accomplish specific tasks and goals.
Each committee will self-elect a captain or co-captains during the fall semester. The captain will coordinate the activities of their committee with the overall guidance of the Executive Council. The captains will be required to present a short synopsis of what their committee has accomplished since the last meeting and what is being planned for the future to the general membership at each monthly General Membership meeting.
______Fundraising Committee: This committee will design, plan and implement fund-raising events. They will be responsible for taking attendance at fundraising events and delegating responsibilities to participating members. This committee will raise funds for projects that are agreed upon by the general membership at the discretion of the Executive Committee. For example, funds may be raised for the WSSLHA Graduation Banquet, ASHA or MSHA travel awards, Alumni Picnic, Graduate Bootcamp and clinic materials.
______Volunteer / Community Service Committee: This committee will design, plan and implement volunteer activities. Volunteering will be designed for local charities as well local, regional, national and international charities.
______Newsletter Committee: This committee will design, plan, and implement and WSSLHA newsletter that will be published on a bi-monthly basis. Its purpose will be to create a historical record of what this organization accomplishes each term. It will highlight peers within the program, extraordinary faculty and initiatives that are key focuses of WSSLHA at that time. The Chapter Historians will be the defacto captain of this committee.
______Social Committee: This committee will design, plan and implement social activities that involve all speech-language pathology graduate students.
