B.TERMS OF SCHOLARSHIP

  1. A limited number[1] of full or partial scholarships will be awarded annually to outstanding graduates from developing countries, with preference to applicants from the Asian region, undertaking one-year full-time study at HKU in the Master of Laws in Human Rights Programme.
  1. The scholarship shall be used for tuition fees, and/or other approved expenses for the one-year full-time course of studies leading to the degree of Master of Laws in Human Rights.
  1. The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and relevant working experience in the field of human rights to students who have obtained a good law degree or other relevant undergraduate degree from an approved university or institution.

C.PROCEDURE

  1. All applicants must submit this application along with their completed Application Form for the LL.M. in Human Rights Programme by 30 April 2013. Please refer to the online admission’s procedures on the Faculty of Law website:
  1. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  1. Originals of all supporting documents will need to be produced upon the applicant’s arrival in Hong Kong.
  1. Please note that scholarships are awarded after we have selected the students for admission to the programme. If you have been successful in your application for this scholarship, we may notify you at the same time or shortly after you receive notificationthat you have been admitted to the LL.M in Human Rights Programme.

Please explain what work in this area you have done and why. Also describe how these activities demonstrate your personal qualities, such as motivation, enthusiasm and initiative.

3. Career plans/aspirations

What are you hoping to gain from completing the LL.M in Human Rights degree at the University of Hong Kong? Why does this particular programme in Human Rights attract you? How does taking the course fit into your aspirations and career plans?

4. Reasons for applying for the scholarship

Please provide us with details of your financial circumstances and why you are applying for a scholarship. Will you be receiving financial support from other sources? Have you already obtained a pledge of funding?

5. Your views about human rights in your country

Please share with us some of your views (whether positive or negative) about the human rights situation in your country. You may discuss your views about the general status of human rights in your country, or about the status of specific human rights in your country of particular interest or concern.
