Chairs, Pilot Modern Slavery Multi-Disciplinary Panels

Location: South West and West Yorkshire

Time commitment: 15-20 days

Remuneration: £300 per day

Do you want to play a role in erasing the evil of modern slavery and helping victims regain control of their lives?

You can do this by becoming a Chair of one of two pilot Modern Slavery Multi-Disciplinary Panels. These new Panels are being introduced following a comprehensive review of the current National Referral Mechanism for identifying victims of human trafficking and ensuring they receive the appropriate protection and support. The new Panels will be rolled out nationally from autumn 2016 as the sole decision making bodyon whether referred individuals are victims of human trafficking.

Two pilot Panels will be established in West Yorkshire and in the South West region, which will cover Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Panels will meet virtually on a regular basis and will be comprised of 8-10 members from agencies, organisations and partners with a relevant interest in modern slavery issues and in protecting vulnerable individuals. The independent Chair will be responsible for ensuring timely and appropriate decisions are made on all modern slavery cases referred to the Panel and for reporting back to the Home Office Case Management Unit.

We are seeking candidates with experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, as well as an ability to analyse complex information to identify key issues and make effective decisions. Given the nature of the role we are looking for candidates who understand the safeguarding landscape but are not currently employed by a statutory agency or a modern slavery related non-governmental organisation.

This will be a one year fixed term appointment with the possibility of extension.
