Arizona’s 2015 USATF Youth Cross Country Meets

We will be starting our upcoming 2015 Cross Country Season with a total of 4 regulation meets, which will be run in conjunction with the Scottsdale Middle School Meets. These meets will be held at Scottsdale’s Chaparral Park, with a meet start time of 8:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 AM. The Arizona J.O. Cross Country Championships will be held at Friendship Park in Avondale, Arizona.This meet will also host an Open 20K State Championship Race. The course walk for these events will starts at 7:00 AM with the first race starting at 8:00 AM; races will conclude at noon.

We are inviting all Middle School Teams, Clubs, and unattached runners to participate in our meets.Runners of all fitness levels and ages are encouraged to participate in our Opencross country races. High school, collegeand unattached runnersare also welcomed to compete in these meetsor make them part of their cross country meet schedule. We look forward to seeing you all for what is going to be a very exciting and rewarding season.

The age divisions for competition year 2015 are as follows:

3K – 3,000 meters (1.86 miles) / 9 - 10 Girl/Boy (born 2005 – 2006)
3K – 3,000 meters (1.86 miles) / 11 - 12 Girl/Boy (born 2003 – 2004)
4K – 4,000 meters (2.48 miles) / 13 -14 Girl/Boy (born 2001 – 2002)
5K – 5,000 meters (3.10 miles) / 15 - 16 Girl/Boy (born 1999 – 2000)
5K – 5,000 meters (3.10 miles) / 17 - 18 Girl/Boy (born 1997 – 1998)
5K – 5,000 meters (3.10 miles) / OPEN - Women/Men (19 & ABOVE)
*Per USATF Rule 300.1 ( c ) “Athletes must be at least seven (7) years of age on
December 31 of the current year to compete at the Youth Athletics or Junior Olympic National Championships.”
Entry Fee: $5:00 per athlete. “USA Track & Field membership is not required for the first four meets however; membership will be required for the State Championships”. Membership bought after Nov 1, will be valid through 2016.
Registration: Entries are being accepted on the Athletic.net website and the day of the meet. Registration and race site are on the south side of Jackrabit road.
Awards: Ribbons 1st thru 10thand all race results will be posted on our USATF AZ website.
Parking: Chaparral Park – parking available on both sides of Jackrabit road, more parking on the North side. Friendship Park - Parking and race location are at the far west end of the park
