Attendees: / Present: Steve Richardson, President; BJ Herman, Vice President; Cassandra Lynch, Secretary; Mason Phelps, Boys Director; McKenna Ledesma, Girls Director; Sean Bobadilla, Coaching Director; Brian Casey, Treasurer
Absent: Mike Dilay, Equipment Director; Shaunita Bolden, Director of Volunteers;
Facilitator: Steve Richardson, President / Guest(s): Craig Wickstrom, Girls HS LAX coach 8:30pm
1. / Meeting called to order at 7:09 pm by Steve Richardson, President.
2. / Motion: moved to approve minutes from 1 August 2017 board meeting.
· Vote: Motion seconded; all in favor. Motion passed unanimously with votes at meeting and by email.
· Resolved: Motion carried without modification to the minutes from the meeting on 1 August 2017.
3. / Motion: Boys Director moved to create subcommittee to define the framework in regard to club sponsorship tiers and what UPLC can commit to. Members to be Mason, Shaunita and whomever would like to join.
· Vote: Motion seconded. 7 votes in favor: 0 opposed: 0 abstained: 2 absent.
All votes received in person in favor: Steve (Pres), BJ (VP), Brian (Treas),
Cassandra (Sec), Mason (Boys), McKenna (Girls) and Sean (Coach).
· Resolved: Motion carried to approve sub-committee.
4. / Treasurer:
· Continue to work with accountant to complete 2016 taxes, due November 2017.
· Account balances: $22,195.71 ch and $1,303.70 sa and dwolla account funded with fall ball registrations already.
· Summer boys clinic profits to be used towards UPLC and CHS LAX betterment of the clubs.
· Need until 9/19/17 to propose budget prior to registration opening projected 9/29/17.
5. u / Equipment Director:
· Continue to work on inventory and report back to board.
· Boys uniforms: Uniform jersey + shorts needed. Board to continue discussions on uniform purchase for 2018.
Registration: Projection opening date 9/29/17. Reg fees to be determined after budget proposal, board discussion and vote is complete. May need to add a separate doc to track players request for numbers, no duplicates based on multiple teams.
6. / Boys Director:
· Fall Ball updates from Mason and Sean. U9-U15 signed up.
· Wall ball event, email already sent inviting folks.
7. / Girls Director:
· Received $200 fine for not bringing referee into league. Will follow up with HS coach and Umpire association about fee.
Guest: Girls HS LAX coach Craig Wickstrom. He runs Tacoma LadyHawks in the off seasons and open to girls 5th – 8th grade. Any parents interested in being a girls coach Craig has offered to teach them and build confidence as a girls coach. Parent 101-night idea to teach rules, good sportsmanship and volunteers. Craig and Mckenna will connect on girls’ rules, meetings and umpire info to inform UPLC.
8. / Coaching Director:
· Working with boys’ director on fall ball and wall ball clinics.
· Club social media presence to be used for advertising once registration is open.
9. / Back to School Nights:
· Board will coordinate which schools that they can attend.
10. / Spirit Wear:
· 2 parent volunteers have secured all Spirit Wear and ready to open with registration as pop up store. BSN, plan to open store for 2 weeks after registration opens.
