Service: Provides outpatient counseling for those who have been raped.

Accredited as child advocacy center.

No fee.

Will return NelsonCounty residents to counselors who practice

in NelsonCounty and will see the resident free of charge. This

is a non-profit organization funded by federal, state, grants so

that they can offer their services at no cost.

Also presents the Via Colori Festival annually as a fundraiser.

This is a modern day expression of a centuries-old art form where

more than 50 artists gather to create their art directly on the pavement.

It is a celebration of creativity. All proceeds go to the Advocacy

SupportCenter for the assistance of those in distress.

Service:Has several programs to assist those with fixed incomes,

low incomes, etc. in getting hearing aids as reduced price.

“Hear Now” - application process whereby qualified persons

receive refurbished hearing aids at $100.00 for each one.

Monies must be sent at time of application with no refund.

Hearing tests are billed to insurance. Medicare pays for one

hearing test in a lifetime. KATLC is a state-run program

which assists people who are on disability by paying for

both test and hearing aids. Care Credit is a finance company

that will grant an 18 month loan with no interest for the

purchase of hearing aids - anything over 18 months is at 11%

interest. Vocational Rehabilitation will pay all the cost if the

person is working and needs hearing aids in order to continue

to work. This is also a state-run program.

Assists disabled vets in their needs. Sends two (2) boys

in their junior year of high school to American Legion Boys

State Camp where they are taught in one intensive week how

the government works and develop leadership skills. Many

states offer scholarships and preference admissions to students

who have had this experience.
