Approval of January10, 2012 meeting minutes, motion made by Karen and 2nd by Ann, minutes

  • Karen gave the group a update on the DFC grant by sharing that she has been working diligently to make the best possible grant request possible
  • Wendy has commitment forms for members to sign that will accompany the grant
  • Karen will need more data on prescription drugs if they want to include this as a focus in the next DFC grant, we all know it is a problem but giving the data is hard
  • The grant will go into the mail on Wednesday March 21st by noon
  • We will not know if we received the funding until August 1st
  • The DFCC will only award 31 grants this year
  • Wendy reported that Fun Friday has still been running strong with great turnouts each first and third Friday
  • Wendy will wrap up working with the afterschool youth (LLC) on the 14th of March
  • Wendy also reported that the Hope 4 Teens is still going with the average attendance being 10-12 people per week
  • The home group members of Hope 4 Teens will be holding a dedication on April 27, 2012 at 4pm in honor of Lindsey, this is also the one year mark of her death, all are welcome
  • Discussion took place about the gang awareness presentation that took place in February
  • All agree it was a wonderful program that should be provided to middle and high school youth
  • Wendy and Karen shared a slide show with the coalition that outlined problems in the county
  • Single serve, product placement, 4 loco type beverages
  • Ron will work with vendor upon his return
