Kögel is the second trailer supplier for Waberer's

Burtenbach, 28 April 2017

  • 100 new Kögel Mega Rail with RoRo equipment

Waberer’s,a leading owned vehicle operator within the European international full truck load (FTL) segment, has decided to break new ground after a decade-and-a-half-long relationship with a well-known trailer manufacturer. With a truck fleet expansion and order of 100 Kögel mega-trailers, the company takes a first step into a new joint future with Kögel. As an environmentally conscious company, Waberer’s is continuously expanding its modern truck fleet with commercial vehicles equipped with the smallest possible ecological footprint. For this reason, Waberer's has decided to use Kögel multi-modal trailers.

Kögel Mega

Mega trailers are perfectly suited for classic standard tasks and high-volume transport applications. With a clear internal height of three meters, the trailers are true volume miracles and ideal for the just-in-time business in the automotive sector. The mechanical-hydraulic lifting roof, which is part of the standard equipment, increases the lateral and rear transfer height to more than three meters. This makes loading and unloading of three stacked lattice boxes possible. The standard Kögel integral roof tarpaulin also guarantees improved handling with an open roof. Thanks to the roof straps being integrated in the roof tarpaulin, sagging straps are a thing of the past. This eliminates the straps snagging on the load. Mega-trailers are, of course, certified in accordance with DIN EN 12642 Code XL.

Ideal for multi-modal transport

The trailers designed for multimodal transport are equipped with a reinforced chassis frame. The gripper edges integrated into the frame, a gripper jaw tarpaulin protection and special axles in a rail design allow loading of the trailers onto rail transport. The 100 Mega Rail are designed for flexible loading onto the most common rail pocket wagons. Trailers for unaccompanied boat and ferry transport feature optional RoRo equipment with an 8-mm-thick closed slide plate and four pairs of heavy-duty lashing rings with 12,000 kilograms of test force, as well as signage in accordance with DIN EN 29367-2.

Waberer’s custom fittings

To protect the interior of the front wall from damage during everyday use, it has been fitted with a steel sheet with a thickness of 2 mm and a height of 1,250 mm. For easier loading from the top, the sliding roof can also be moved from front to rear. The trailer tarpaulins are designed to guard against vandalism. These feature steel ropes integrated in the tarpaulin in a 160 by 160 mm grid. This prevents the theft of goods, and uninvited passengers can not enter through the tarpaulin. Further custom fitting includes a planar cable with two brackets, two additional rows of battery packs, a tyre pressure monitoring system and much more.

Cathodic dip-paint coating: lasting protection from corrosion

On Kögel Mega Rail trailers, the entire vehicle frame is given long-lasting protection against corrosion by nano ceramic technology and cathodic dip-paint coating, supplemented with a coat of UV varnish.

“We at Waberer’s, are dedicated to innovation, and by adapting to changing market needs and conditions, we grow constantly, to which our partners, such as Kögel are also contributing with their expertise every day”, said Ferenc Lajkó, CEO of Waberer’s International.“We are looking forward to continue delivering value added solutions all over Europe with the help of the expanded fleet.”
