9/12:Quiz 4, all 50 DJs due
Dialogue Journals (or Double-Entry Journals) are meant to be just that: an open dialogue the student is having with himself or herself on paper. Students can fit eight DJs on each piece of paper: four on the front and four on the back. Students are to find quotes or any printed part of the book that makes them start to think and write that down on the top of their paper along with the page of reference it can be found. Below it, students respond to the quote in 50 words or more. Things they may discuss can include any of the following: What do they like/dislike about the quoted material? Do they agree or disagree with the author or a character and why? How does it make them feel? What are they thinking about when they read this? What would you have done differently if you were the author or a character in the story? How do the literary elements enhance the story? At the end of each discussion, they must count up their words and write it at the end. A response is NOT a summary of what was read.
Students should have a total of 50 Dialogue Journals at the end of the story. Up to four additional ones may be done for extra credit.
**For All Novels**
Also, you may attach up to five “quiz” questions and answers to each quiz. Each question you write is worth one point. This is your “cheat sheet,” and may be left in front of you during the quiz. You may only turn this in attached to your quiz. I will not accept “late” cheat sheets.
(Actual quiz questions are 5 points each. Five Q&As can replace one missed question.)
