Principal’s Message
Student Attire- As we move closer to Halloween, I want to remind families that student clothing must adhere to the WCPSS dress code. Student clothing should not display images that are violent or represent any movie, game or other form of entertainment that is not appropriate for elementary age students. If a student wears clothing that does not adhere to the WCPSS board policy, they will be allowed to call their parents to bring them a change of clothes. If the parent cannot come to school to bring a change of clothing, the student will be provided suitable clothing, if available. WCPSS Board Policy 6410, which addresses the dress code, is listed below.
I-5Inappropriate Dress: Principals shall exercise appropriate discretion in implementing this policy, including making reasonable accommodations on the basis of student's religious beliefs or medical conditions.Students are expected to adhere to standards of dress and appearance that are compatible with an effective learning environment. Presenting a bodily appearance or wearing clothing which is disruptive, provocative, revealing, profane, vulgar, offensive or obscene, or which endangers the health or safety of the student or others is prohibited.Examples of prohibited dress or appearance include, but are not limited to exposed undergarments; sagging pants; excessively short or tight garments; bare midriff shirts; strapless shirts; attire with messages or illustrations that are lewd, indecent or vulgar or that advertise any product or service not permitted by law to minors; head covering of any kind; see-through clothing; attire that exposes cleavage; any adornment such as chains or spikes that reasonably could be perceived as or used as a weapon; and any attire that is prohibited by Policy6410Level III:2, Gang and Gang-Related Activities. Individual schools are free to specify additional examples of dress or appearance that are prohibited at that school under the terms of this policy.Election Day
Election Day isTuesday, November 8. We will have atwo-hour delaythat morning to allow voters to access the school for voting. We anticipate a high volume of voter traffic throughout the day. Please plan for extra traffic and delays that day for morning and afternoon carpool. We will have extra staff available to help with the congestion. We also ask that you limit your visits on voting day, due to the extra activity we will have on campus throughout the day. We appreciate your assistance and support.
Chick-fil-A Spirit Night
Mark your calendars! Our next Chick-fil-A Spirit night is Tuesday, November 1st, from 5:00 - 7:00.Invite your friends, family and neighbors to come out and support our school! We will have the Chick-fil-A cow in the morning and afternoon carpools on Tuesday to encourage you to EAT MORE CHICKEN!!
Paying for Field Trips
Field trips for all grades have been loaded in OSP (Online School Payment). This program makes it easier than ever to pay for all your child’s field trips at once. This will save the teacher/teacher assistant valuable instructional time because they don’t have to write individual receipts. If you choose to pay for trips individually, you can do that in OSP as well. The link to OSP is: http://osp.osmsinc.com/WakeNC/ and can also be found on the Lacy web site http://www.wcpss.net/lacyes .
If you choose to pay your child’s teacher instead of using OSP, please consider paying for all the trips at one time. Thank you.
