Patient Support Manager

We are looking for a dedicated team player to be Patient Support Manager (Full Time) in the Mumbai HIV/MDRTB Project. He/she will be part of a team of 47 national staff and 4 expatriates in Mumbai.MSF also offers opportunities for national/international medical conferences, trainings and workshops depending on Project needs

Gross Salary: 51,360INR per month(Non-negotiable) + Other Benefits

PURPOSE OF POST

The successful candidate will work in Mumbai in at all MSF supported sites in Mumbaisupervision of the Project Medical Referent. Coordination of patient support activities (emotional, education and social support activities), in order to empower the patient in front of his illness and treatment, beyond the purely medical aspects of care

TASK DESCRIPTION

  • Share responsibility with Expat Psychosocial Mentor on developing psychosocial component for HIV/DRTB/HCV at MSF supported facilities. Responsible for implementing and providing continuity to these components.
  • Define the patient support strategy of the project according to the changing medical needs and context.
  • Review protocols and guidelines on Patient Support for HIV/DRTB/HCV and educational material with the team
  • Develop patient support tools (counselling and education protocols, health promotion messages, flyers, flipcharts, games)
  • Ensure quality of implementation of patient support activities (health talks, education and counselling sessions, defaulter tracing, strengthening of support groups, linking with social actors and with community awareness activities) according to protocols and tools.
  • Support patient support needs: Recruitment, composition, training, coaching, technical evaluation.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on patient support activities (define indicators, define follow-up tools, collect and analyse data)
  • Ensure good communication and collaboration with the other components of the project and other partners working on patient support.
  • Facilitate monthly patient support meetings and encourage the active participation of this component in the daily flash meetings.
  • Participate in the team planning for the psychological / psychiatric care of patients previously identified as patients with MH problems and share information with MD Technical Referent.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Languages required: English, Hindi, Marathi
  • Social Worker( BSW/MSW), psychologist/ Counselor professional background
  • Experience using Patient Support approach in HIV/TB projects (compulsory)
  • Knowledge and experience in coaching, mentoring, monitoring and supervision techniques
  • Strong in HR management and empowerment/capacity building of national staff.
  • Experience in assessment activities and participation in setting up new programs from patient support perspective.
  • Experience in conducting community awareness programs (preferred).
