Mike Hansen, President, Michigan Community College Association (MCCA)

Increasingly, community colleges and other institutions of higher education are called to demonstrate their institutional effectiveness for the investments made by taxpayers at the local, state and federal level. With tuition increasing to bridge the gap between reductions in state aid and property taxes, students are becoming the primary revenue stream at a number of our institutions. Understanding the needs, expectations and satisfaction of our students/core customer with the community college experience will help institutions shape and impact behavior and ultimate success. Not only has Governor Snyder established balanced scorecards with benchmarks for institutional effectiveness (MiDashboard), he is restructuring state government along similar and more accountable lines. The MCCA has developed today’s program to enhance this conversation and support institutions in their continued their quality journey.
