Volunteer Wellbeing Activities Co-ordinator

Cheshire Without Abuse(CWA)aim to break the cycle of domestic abuse. Our vision at CWA is of a healthy community where adults and children can live free of the fear of domestic abuse. We are the voice of those living with or who have lived with domestic abuse, and we work to raise awareness of the issues involved.

Operating from our base at the Lily Jones Support Centre in Crewe, we provide a broad range of

services that tackle both the symptoms and the causes of domestic abuse, with the emphasis on

whole family, whole journey services that are tailored to individual needs and are available as

long as they are needed.

Purpose of the role:The Volunteer & Wellbeing Activities Co-ordinator will recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers in line with CWA’sstrategic priorities and ensure that our enrichment and wellbeing programmes are fully managed to enable our service users to participate in a range of high quality recreational and therapeutic activities that are accessible to all.

At Cheshire Without Abuse our volunteers are highly valued and the post holder will ensure that volunteer opportunities are developed to provide interesting and beneficial experiences for volunteers that meet both individual aspirations and the constantly changing demands of our service provision.

DBS requirements:An enhanced DBS check is required for this role, the cost of which will be covered by CWA.

Conditions/Restrictions:Must be 18 years of age or older.

Volunteer duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of high quality volunteer opportunities across the organisation.
  • Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures and standards of volunteer service.
  • Undertake surveys with staff to assess organisational needs and levels of staff satisfaction with the volunteer programme.
  • Evaluate all aspects of the volunteer programme to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes, as appropriate.
  • In conjunction with staff members, develop and maintain Volunteer roledescriptions to ensure that service needs are being fully supported and met.
  • Recommend the most efficient use of volunteers, appropriate volunteer mix and future workforce needs to support strategic direction and operational requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate recruitment and selection techniques are implemented and fit for purpose, recruiting, interviewing and assigning applicants to relevant volunteer activities.
  • Conduct and/or arrange for volunteer orientation and training to be carried out for all new volunteers and those taking on new assignments.
  • Schedule all volunteer activity and ensure that volunteers have a positive and enjoyable experience.
  • Assess volunteer feedback on assignment activity.
  • Develop a volunteer reward and recognition programme and plan special events to mark their achievements.
  • Ensure that accurate records are maintained to enable statistical analysis and activity reports on volunteer participation to be produced in a timely manner.
  • Host and attend recruitment events within the community to attract qualified candidates
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other volunteer organisations, local colleges and universities within the local area.
  • Provide on-going support, personal development and guidance for volunteers.
  • Act as a single point of contact for communications.
  • Converse with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote co-operation and interest.
  • Create and distribute various communications and publications.

Activities duties and responsibilities:

  • Consult with service-users, members of staff and key partners to plan, co-ordinateand develop a service-user led wellbeing and enrichment programme with a view to improving emotional and mental wellbeing, reducing social isolation and motivating individuals to take action on how to manage their own health and wellbeing.
  • Develop an understanding about the scope and potential of the “Five Ways to Wellbeing” as a tool to heighten awareness and enhance service-user understanding allowing them to make positive choices based on their own values and motivations, leading to a more active and fulfilling life.
  • Publish and circulate marketing materials and invitations to individuals, partner organisations and other local community groups aimed at encouraging service-user engagement with our programmes.
  • Facilitate Survivor group sessions and evaluate the satisfaction levels and effectiveness of weekly sessions, making recommendations for future improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a database of potential facilitators and stakeholders.
  • Manage volunteer involvement, assigning key tasks to meet service-user requirements, ie transportation needs; meet and greet; befriending; signposting to services.

General Duties:

  • Work as a member of the team with other staff by sharing information and expertise.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.
  • Contribute support during busy times.
  • Attend appropriate training.
  • Participate in regular supervision.
  • Work within all CWA policies and procedures and in particular, safeguarding and professional code of conduct.
  • Present professionally to all partners at external meetings and training.
  • Remain current in general office technology.
  • Perform any other duties as required by your line manager or Leadership Team.
  • Part -Time 20 hours
    Salary is £17,552.80 pro rata.
