Arburg at the Moldplas 2017: Automated overmoulding of inserts
- Allrounder 1200 T: vertical rotary table machine produces bottle openers
- Automation: handling performed by a six-axis robot mounted on the machine table.
- Turnkey: Arburg offers tailor-made automated turnkey solutions
Lossburg, 20/9/2017
Arburg will attend the Moldplas 2017 trade fair in Batalha, Portugal from 8 to 11 November. This plastics trade fair, the most important in Portugal, is a key meeting place for mould manufacturers and injection moulding companies. An example of automated injection moulding will be presented at the Arburg exhibition stand number 3B08 in hall 3: a hydraulic Allrounder 1200 T rotary table machine will overmould metal inserts to produce bottle openers in a cycle time of around 30 seconds.
"We have a suitable solution for the energy and production-efficient production of plastic parts for all of our customers in Portugal and look forward to many specific inquiries and personal discussions at the Moldplas," says Martín Cayre, Managing Director of the Arburg subsidiary in Spain. "Our portfolio ranges from hydraulic and electric entry-level machines through to high-performance hybrid Allrounders and special clean room solutions. It also includes the Freeformer for industrial additive manufacturing, our host computer system (ALS), as well as robotic systems and customised turnkey systems."
Automated overmoulding of inserts
The exhibit, a vertical Allrounder 1200 T rotary table machine with a clamping force of 1,000 kN, overmoulds four metal inserts with PP to produce bottle openers in a cycle time of around 30 seconds. Part handling is performed by a six-axis robot mounted on the machine table. Arburg implemented the production cell in cooperation with its Portuguese automation partner, Fluidotronica.
Allrounder 1200 T rotary table machine
The Allrounder T vertical rotary table machine series includes the four sizes, 1200, 1500, 1800 and 2000, with clamping forces from 800 to 3,200 kN. Thanks to high-quality technology and comprehensive equipment options, they can be customised specifically for a variety of injection moulding tasks. Rotary table machines are the ideal choice for the ergonomic overmoulding of inserts. To ensure reliable operation, the AllrounderT machines are equipped as standard with an ergonomic efficiency package including blank holders on the rotary table and a combined vertical and horizontal light curtain. The rotary tables are generally driven servo-electrically and therefore operate with particular speed and precision. It is also generally possible to integrate the machines in complete production lines.
Full range of vertical machines
Arburg offers the widest range of vertical injection moulding systems in the industry. These also include the Allrounder V with clamping forces from 125 to 500 kN. The vertical Allrounders of the V and T series are suitable for both manual and automated insertion and removal of moulded parts. The inserts cannot slip on the fixed mould halves, which is positioned at the bottom.
Like all Allrounders, the vertical machines are also modular in design and offer a variety of clamping-force and injection-unit combinations. Task-specific equipment options are also available, for example for multi-component, thermoset or silicone processing, allowing the technology to be adjusted on an individual basis.
Arburg offers a broad range of turnkey solutions
As a primary contractor, Arburg covers the entire turnkey spectrum: from consulting and project planning, implementation and installation, through to service for the complete production cells. Customers can rely on customised, automated injection moulding solutions from a single source, which are supported throughout their functional operation period and the product life cycle.
In the automation sector, the subsidiary closely cooperates with the experts from the German Turnkey Department, for example, as well as with Spanish and Portuguese automation partners to design and implement customised turnkey projects for their customers.
