What is my Career Profile?

Career Profile captures details about youremployment preferences, skills and education of job seekers. Once you have created your Career Profile, select your preferred template to create a resume. Alternatively, you can upload resumes prepared outside the jobactive websitein Word, PDF or Rich Text Format (RTF). It is in your best interest to complete each section accurately and completely.

About Me

Tell employers a little bit about yourself. In up to 1000 characters, share what you like doing and what makes you happy in a job. You may want to write about your future career plans or highlight past achievements. Sum up who you are and how your skills could benefit an employer. If you choose, this information is made available to potential employers in the Employers ‘Find Candidates’ search results.

Work History

List your jobs here. Put your most recent job at the top of the list. Include details about the job, the organisation you worked for and the years you worked there. Write a short sentence about your duties and your achievements.

Education History

List your education here. Put your most recent education at the top of the list. Include any certificates, awards or achievements gained during your studies that could help you get a job.

Skills

List skills which you possess that are relevant to the job you want. For example, do you have good communications skills, computer skillsor work well within a team? You can add up to 20 skills, each up to 50 characters in length. It is a free text field. Just start typing your skill, and our skill match recognition will show you possible matches. Select the matched word from the list to increase your chances of employer matches.

Licences and Accreditations

Do you have licences or certificates that support your work? Include things like your driver’s licence, first aid certificates, forklift licence or food handling certificates.

Transport

Do you have your own car or motorbike? Sometimes you won’t be able to get to a job by public transport or you may need to use your own vehicle for work. Some jobs may even need you to provide your own transport.

Referees

Bosses or supervisors from previous jobs can be great referees. If you help in the community with sport, cultural social activities, community leaders are also good referees. List their name, title, phone number and email address if possible.
