Gold Coast Arts Festival (GCAF)
Terms & Conditions of Entry
Work previously entered in other competitions will be acceptable.
All entries must be the sole and original work of the artist submitting and must be his/her bona fide property free of any charge, encumbrance or lien.
All entries must be for sale.
GCAF reserves the right to cancel or postpone, due to unforseen circumstances beyond their control, in which case entry fees will be refunded.
There is no limit to the number of entries an artist can submit but a separate application form and entry fee must accompany each entry.
Artists both successful and unsuccessful in their application will be notified by the end of FEBRUARY 2014.
Artworks will be selected on the basis that they are appropriately suited to the accommodating site of Evandale Park, Gold Coast Art Centre, Bundall Qld - thus outdoor installation that will withstand the elements of such a position.
Site Selection
The artists that are successful with there application are to meet on site prior to the exhibition for the allocation of placement of their artwork and to discuss secure installation matters, if an artist is unable to attend communication can be made through email or telephone – although final placement of works is that of the director and curator of GCAF. If works appear to be unsafe they may be excluded from the festival.
The Sculpture Walk at the Arts Centre, Gold Coast positioned on Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise.The site is surrounded by the waterways and a very popular central lake, overlooked by the Gold Coast’s Arts Centre.
Prize
Non Aquistive Award.
‘Economic Hardship Award’
A non acquisition prize to the value of $3000 for the most original sculpture or concept .The winner of this award will receive the alloted prize payment no later than 30 days after the festival’s closing date.
Sales
All exhibited artworks will be for sale. Works sold will attract a 20% commission fee payable to the GCAF. The commission is used to cover the costs of the event and to contribute to future Art festivals and the purchase of artworks.
In cases where a gallery exclusively represents an artist, it is the gallery and artists’ responsibility to negotiate their own arrangements and price the work accordingly.
For the duration of the festival and for 2 weeks (14 days) thereafter the artist notes that the GCAF will remain there agent and that any sales made within that period will incur the 20% commission. GGAF will manage any sales.
Sales negotiations will be entered into by a representative of GCAF, the artist and the purchaser only. The artist agrees not to enter into negotiations without a representative of GCAF being present.
In the event that a larger artwork is sold it is the artists and purchasers responsibility for delivery of the sold piece.
Advertising
Artists must agree not to release any media promotion of the festival without the prior written permission of one of the directors of the GCAF
Responsibility of Artist
Confirmation of selection will only follow provision of a written statement that describes how the artist proposes to install and de-install their larger sculptures and which lists the vehicles and equipment that they propose to bring to the site.
Prior to the exhibition artists will be given a time for installation.
Maintenance or repair of the works during the festival is the responsibility of the individual artist, if a piece is damaged and not repair to a standard accepted by GCAF the piece will be subject to exclusion.
All risks in the festival of larger sculptures are that of the artist, this includes all handling – installation, removal and maintenace. It is a pre requisite of entry that the artist hold his/her own Public Liability Insurance – a copy of this must accompany entry form.
Signage
Signage stating the name of the artist, name of the piece and price will be displayed along side the sculpture displayed.
